Thanks Bob, this jumping problem was getting to be disabling so I decided to so called upgrade and get an SDD and windows 10. SDD is still too pricy, $380 for 500GB, and I did not like windows 10. I use and love the background picture displays in windows 7. All my best keepers showing at random every 10 seconds. Not available in windows 10. So I went back to windows 7 and of course the same old problem.

What I described to Gary, cursor on RH elevator works. But I would love to disable the touch pad.

Thank you for participating.

That tablet has a very sensitive touch pad - I have used it and it drives me crazy. I finally figured out how to disable it. Until then I ended up taping some index cards over the touch pad so it wouldn't happen! :)

Try going in to the control panel and looking for mouse or pointing devices and see if you can disable there. Gary

I have a Toshiba Satellite and use a Logitech wireless mouse. The computer senses the wireless receiver in the USB port and automatically turns off the touchpad. Go to Control Panel and select devices, select mouse and then mouse properties. The far right tab (device settings) has a check box that allows you to disable the internal pointing device (touchpad) when an external USB pointing device is attached. Hope that this helps.

I am seriously at a loss at this one.

When typing into a document, any document, one starts typing at the insertion point, fixed by placing the mouse pointer and left clicking.

When I get a little way into the story the insertion points shift all by it self. The text is then inserted in the wrong place. It is getting to be extremely annoying requiring constant cut and pasting to correct.

I have reloaded windows 7 and upgraded the MS office system and run numerous virus checkers but still have the problem. Also checked the mouse and keyboard are not the problem.

Has anyone ever seen such a problem and know of a solution.

I am not interested to replace the pc with a mac.
Other than that, thank you for your input.

Is your PC metal enclosed? The samsungs are, and are great little machines, but the metal, casing causes the cursor to easily jump around when your hand/fingers brush against the metal while typing. Static, I assume.

Do you have a WACOM tablet with a stylus on top of it?

I had the same problem with my mac laptop. I removed the battery and that temporally solved the problem. When the problem re occurred I added more memory --- been good ever since. I know very little about computers.

Thanks, however they only change at every minute or more and they show the next picture in your folder. Kind of crappy.

I would need a prescription for a way to disable that pad.

Going to the control panel, hardware and sound, mouse, hardware, shows 2 mice. The second one is called PS/2 compatible. Going to properties, driver, shows 4th blanked out. i.e can not disable. the PS/2 mouse that would be the touch pad. Deleting the driver makes you reboot and the driver loads again.

Only the first mouse entry give me a choice to disable it.

Just made a change in the mouse setup under [pointer options and snap to], disabled snap to, and it seems to be working better. Stay tuned for the rest of the story.

Had the same problem with my Lenovo laptop, no matter how careful I was to not come in contact with the touch-pad. Solved the problem by getting a wireless, Logitech keyboard and Mouse combo, that is much better than the laptop keyboard.
