WANTING TO BUY CANON LENS

It's OK, but there are much better lenses for less money when comparing them to similar Canon lenses. The DxO web site has very comprehensive information on virtually all lens and camera combinations. Deep review and research brought me to choose the following lenses: Tokina 16-28 f2.8, Tamron SP 24-70 f2.8 VC, SP 70-200 2.8 VC, SP 150-600 f5.6/6.3 VC. I have been delighted with all of them, especially IQ and my total cash investment exactly $3,000. That's less than half the cost of Canon's comparable lenses and superior IQ. I also use DxO Optics Pro 9 to process my images. It automatically reads the lens/camera in metadata and applies ALL lens corrections for distortion, CA, vignetting, softness; as chosen. My default is ALL on. I can only say that IMO they have the best and most user friendly software and research information I've found or used. As for Canon, I truly like my 7D, 5D Mark II, and 5D Mark III, but they've fallen far behind in lens performance and development. I seldom use any of my Canon lenses. Tamron, Sigma, and Tokina have surpassed Canon in all regards. Now I have five Canons sitting idle.

But do you have a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens sitting idle to sell or give away?

Amazon is selling them TODAY for $600-700 or so, higher, of course. These are new in a box (NIB) quality, but I don't know if they are USA or Grey market. I just bought one (Prime) with a B+W Clear NANO filter for $730 and change.

I have one I can let go - have had it for about 3 years. Bought new as a breakup from a kit. In excellent condition but for some minor scuffs on the lens cap and the hood, just returned from an international trip and used it as the primary lens. Just prior to Christmas bought the 24-70 2.8ii when Canon was having a refurbed sale and will have less need for this. I want $550 for it (firm), if you are interested. I can send you links to albums with results from this lens. PM me.

It might help if you let us know how much you can pay. There are a lot of them out there, and some are not getting any use.

The EF 24-105mm f/4.0L is one of Canon's most versatile lens. It has been around for a long time. The lens' price will fluctuate quite a bit, depending upon the circumstances. Several years ago Canon introduced the 5D Mk III. Sometime after the introduction the new body was bundled with the EF 24-105mm as a kit. The third-party market was flooded with the lens and prices dropped drastically. That was long ago enough that the market seems to have stabilized and prices have leveled off. Some folks are listening to the winds of change and feel that Canon is about to release another version of the 5 series. What better lens to bundle with than the 24-105? Watch prices and see which way the 24-105 is moving. This price-watching applies only to the f/4.0L version of the lens, the newer version is not applicable.

If you are not concerned with looks you should make some offers on eBay. I got mine for $399+$13.10 postage. It was missing the band on the focus ring. I got the band from Canon for $16.22 shipping and tax included. So it was $428.32 total. Mechanically it is good and takes really sharp photos and I'm really happy with it.

I posted a link, to a like new in the kit box (white box) lens for $475. The OP is apparently not interested.

Yup the deals are out there, it just takes some internet digging. Maybe the OP is just busy and hasn't been able to get back online. :)
