updated to WIN10 and I only have one complaint; my epson scanner doesn't work (yet -- hopefully!).

As I understand it, Microsoft will stop supporting previous issues of Windows sometime next summer; after the deadline you will have to pay to update/upgrade to WIN10.

I had to fins a work-around to get my Nikon scanner to run under Windows 7. I don't relish repeating that process.

See Windows 7 exits mainstream support

Microsoft will be supporting (but not enhancing) Windows 7 until at least January 2020. Nevertheless, lack of support does not mean it will stop running.

The second part of that is correct according to current information about the free upgrade. The question of supporting operating systems is a rather different issue: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/lifecycle

I have been procrastinating about updating to Windows 10, in part hoping to wait until any bugs are removed. I am not looking forward to a prolonged process!

Is it time for me to update...or should I wait a bit more?

If I should go ahead, do you have any advice that will make the process easier?

Thanks for any advice.

I just upgraded two weeks ago, just backup your files in case Murphys law should intervene. Only problem I had was my addy book. the backup process went smoothly

I'm a coward... I ordered a book on it. When received & read, I'll upgrade.

I have upgraded to win 10 at the first opportunity, both my win 7 laptop and win 8.1 PC. I did update both to the latest security and app. updates before upgrading to win 10 on both. A lot of people don't and perhaps this may be why they incur problems. I haven't had a single problem.
I find it fast and glitch free. Any applications that you might have a problem running in win 10, just remember to reset their properties by right clicking and running in the op system you have at this moment. Remember, it's free until July 29th!

I've been running 10 since it came out and am running a ton of applications on my computer(s) and no problems. As a matter of fact most if not all are running better, no issues at all.

I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10. Believe me, I was scared to death. I let Windows install all the upgrades prior to actually doing the upgrade. When I got the nerve up, I hit the button and it did it all by its self. I did have to reboot when it was finished. All my files, programs, everything, was there where I'd left it. My laptop was a different story. It was Windows 8. Upgrading to Window 8.1 was a nightmare. But finally it did and then was able to upgrade to 10. I use Classic Shell to make my start menu look like 7 on my laptop because I couldn't find anything. Many of my programs had to be reloaded on my laptop. Why, I don't know. But all is well, now

Yes, probably after July. I think that even if you download but do not install it, you may have to pay if you wait too long to install.
