Thank you very much, Doc. It is too bad I couldn't get a front view shot.

You must have a steady hand to get a photo that sharp at that distance hand held!

Bald Eagles must have made a comeback in Northern Idaho. I never saw any when we lived there from 1966 - 1972.

The Bald Eagles migrate from northern Canada to feast on our spawning salmon from approximately Thanksgiving to about January 15 or until the salmon are gone in the NE part of Lake Coeur d' Alene at Higgins Point just east of the city of Coeur d' Alene where I live, Alby.

I do have a steady hand. The Barska pistol grip attached to my lens helps me to steady my shot plus the Canon 100-400 II lens has one of the best image stabilizers in the market. If I, at 72, can manage to steady my hand held shots, then most people that are younger than me should have no problems doing the same. It just takes practice and the will-power to do so.
Thank you, Moguy.

I took this photo over a week ago, before our bad weather set into our north Idaho area with a lot of snow.
The Bald Eagle was about 150 feet away under very cloudy skies and was about ready to pounce on a salmon in the lake below. Always hand held. Please use the the download.
I used 560mm.

Nice shot.
