I have the D750 and use the 16 - 35 f/4. It is an awesome combo.

guitarbts, will definitely give this particular lens further consideration. Ken Rockwell gave it a good review. -FiddleMaker

Was wondering what you all favor as a lens for landscapes. I heard so much about wide wide angles that I got one, a Sigma 10-20 f3.5 for my D7000. I am duly impressed after just a few shots of our indoor Christmas displays and a wide expanse of ocean scenery. The perspective is amazing. It covers most of what I consider my "periferal view". My walk around lens is an 18-200 but I now realize that it sort of limits my subject choices to things at a distance. Kind of like visualizing through blinders. Thanks for your thoughts.

Hopefully you know your 10-20 on a DX(d7000) is really 1.5 larger, 1.e. 15-30MM

For what it's worth, check out ashmolephotography.com and see what can be done with a D7000 (or D7100) and a Nikkor 10-24mm.

Things may have changed since I was there last but he takes images good enough to finance an almost never ending global vacation and most of his gear is not major high-dollar stuff proving yet again that one doesn't always need $10,000 worth of camera and lens to get good pictures.

Finding his website was a justification for less than stellar photographic skills and a crop sensor camera with fairly cheap lenses but it will give you an idea of what can be done with the things you already have. Seeing Ben Ashmole's work made me feel a whole lot better about the fact that full frame gear is not in my future. :)

It varies I use a 17-35 Tokina, 24-75 Tamron, and a 70-200 Nikon. It depends on if I want a pano, horizontal or vertical and my view of the scene

I use a Nikon 17-35 f2.8 on a D810, D700. When I finally spring for a refurb D7200 when available, it will do duty there too. On a fx camera it is practically the same picture coverage as my wife's Tamron 11-18 on her D300 at the wide end. Photo quality of the Tamron however is another story but acceptable.

So far....mine would be the Nikon 10.5 DX fisheye or the older 20mm 2.8 D...but I have my eye on a 15mm Ziess.

Very nice website. I bookmarked it to come back to for viewing now and then. He does a nice job. I could not find any detail on the equipment he was using. Was everything done with a D7000 (or D7100) and Nikkor 10-24mm?

I love my 14-24, probably the lens I use the most for landscapes, although my 24-70 is an easy second place. Learning to see in ultra-wide can be tricky, but once you do it's very addicting. A few from the 14-24, feel free to check out more at my website under Landscapes (link in my sig)

My favorite landscape lens is, well it depends on what kind of landscape I'm looking upon, I may put on my 16-35, or I might put a 400 on the camera, so it depends on the situation, so all my lenses are also my favorite landscape lenses!

It depends on how far from the landscape I am.
I either use my 24-105 f/4 IS or my 70-200 2.8 IS.
When I went to Sonora, my 300 2.8 IS did well.

I have no single favorite landscape lens; different lenses for different situations. That being said, when I go out for a day of landscape shooting and want to travel light (leave my backpack at home), I take my Tamron 28-75 f/2.8. But I also like my Nikon 18-55 kit lens (it produces some sharp photos). When I'm going to shoot vistas at a distance then it's my Tammy 70-300.

I don't do landscapes; but if I did, I would use the 16-35 f4 or the 14-24 f2.8.
