Was wondering what you all favor as a lens for landscapes. I heard so much about wide wide angles that I got one, a Sigma 10-20 f3.5 for my D7000. I am duly impressed after just a few shots of our indoor Christmas displays and a wide expanse of ocean scenery. The perspective is amazing. It covers most of what I consider my "periferal view". My walk around lens is an 18-200 but I now realize that it sort of limits my subject choices to things at a distance. Kind of like visualizing through blinders. Thanks for your thoughts.

I have a Tamron 10-24, but my daughter is in love with that lens and it is on her camera and has been for a couple of weeks. I get it back when she goes back to UCLA in a few more weeks. She is leaving all her camera gear at home so it won't distract from being a Senior in premed.

I also have a Samyang (branded Bower) 14 mm f/2.8 manual that I tried a couple of landscapes just to say I did it. And use for interior shots of museums etc.

Who says an 18 mm isn't wide angle. Way back in the stone ages of the late 60s my 35 mm on my Miranda Sensorex was wide angle except for those with a lot of money to spend.

Whatever lens I need to get the shot I want, not the same tired stuff that everyone has shot to death. Stop limiting yourself and start thinking outside of the box.

For what it's worth, check out ashmolephotography.com and see what can be done with a D7000 (or D7100) and a Nikkor 10-24mm.

Things may have changed since I was there last but he takes images good enough to finance an almost never ending global vacation and most of his gear is not major high-dollar stuff proving yet again that one doesn't always need $10,000 worth of camera and lens to get good pictures.

Finding his website was a justification for less than stellar photographic skills and a crop sensor camera with fairly cheap lenses but it will give you an idea of what can be done with the things you already have. Seeing Ben Ashmole's work made me feel a whole lot better about the fact that full frame gear is not in my future. :)

I've somewhat gravitated towards my Schneider-Kreuznach 150mm f/5.6

I use this lens too but probably use my 24-70mm lens more for landscapes.

Nikon D7100 and Nikon 10-24 and sometimes my Sigma 17-50. Also like to use my Sony A6000 with either a Sony 10-18 or Sony/Zeiss 16-70.

I'm really starting to like my Canon 11-24. It's a spectacular lens.

I have the D750 and use the 16 - 35 f/4. It is an awesome combo.
