I use ink farm- No problems so far-. The way I look at it, if I run 3 or 4 sets of ink tanks through the printer and it kills it, I saved enough to pay for a new printer.

I'm assuming this is a "get what you pay for" situation but......has anyone tried any of these??[/quote]

I got the "cheap" ink that was guaranteed to work with Canon printers once from Amazon. It clogged up the printer and I couldn't fix it, so I had to toss it. I always bought the OEM from then on. If its too good to be true, it is!

I recently ordered a set of Ink cartridges for my Pro-100 from Amazon.
I noticed that there are now several different companies offering "compatible" ink cartridges at a MUCH lower cost. $30-$40 vs $100+.

This is off subject but... I had a HP printer and it needed a new head replacement. It was still under warranty and I had the problem before so I knew exactly what it was. Called HP and the person I spoke too gave me a run around for two hours having me do this and that and they finally gave in and sent me the part. Seems ridiculous to me to spend that much time to save sending a $2 part. They apparently wanted to make me so frustrated I would hang up. It didn't work but I did switch to Canon.

Be careful with aftermarket inks the only way to go is to refill your cartridges with ink from a company called Precision Ink they are 99% close to original OEM inks you can find them on the web www.precisioninks.com.

I've had a very bad experience with "compatible" ink. It clogged badly all the time so I quit buying it and now buy only Canon. Yes, even in this economy you do still get what you pay for.

Don't want to put crap ink in it. That's why I'm asking instead of ordering.

Never bought from Amazon. I buy all my ink from LDProducts.com. I've been buying from them for about 12 years. Always good ink. Always good service.

My approach has always been to use the ICC profiles developed for specific printer/paper combinations, either Canon or third party papers. As these profiles have been developed based on Canon's proprietary inks I choose not to introduce an additional factor which might result in inconsistencies in color or ink coverage from a third party ink. In addition, while some report no problems, there are many who report problems with clogging, ruined print heads, leaking, etc. when using third party inks and cartridges. This is seldom the case with those using OEM inks. While I would certainly prefer that proprietary inks were less expensive, my need for consistency in my prints and avoidance of printer problems convinces me that it is best for me to use Canon's inks.

I have used third party ink in my Pro 100 for the past year and the results are excellent.
I'm using y0 yo ink from amazon. If I had to print with only Canon ink i wouldn't print.

Because Canon rebrands their ink anyway. They don't make it.

Wife is getting me (just found out this morning) a Canon Pixma Pro 100 for Christmas. How do you know the ink is rebranded? Do you know who (what?) the actual ink supplier is?

You're a very lucky man. As far as re-branding is concerned watch what the ads Canons use, and check their own web site. At times they will host various brands that aren't direct competitors. How did you crack the code concerning the printer so early? Think it's for this year? GL and have fun!

I fell for that once and ordered ink from LD after much high praise from other hogs. Soon after I put the 1st non-OEM ink in my Pro-100, the next picture came out with stripes! I took out the "crap" ink, put in a genuine cartridge, & reprinted the picture immediately. It was perfect. Lesson learned. I only buy genuine ink for my Canon printers. I wait for a sale at the Canon site and always get free paper with my ink order and I have found it about $20 cheaper on Amazon for a boxed set of all 8 cartridges.

Do you want the rest of my off-brand ink? If not, I'm just going to throw it away. Not worth the hassle of returning.
