I recently ordered a set of Ink cartridges for my Pro-100 from Amazon.
I noticed that there are now several different companies offering "compatible" ink cartridges at a MUCH lower cost. $30-$40 vs $100+.
I'm assuming this is a "get what you pay for" situation but......has anyone tried any of these??
Why would you buy a great printer for its color quality and then put crap ink in it?

Because Canon rebrands their ink anyway. They don't make it.

Don't want to put crap ink in it. That's why I'm asking instead of ordering.

Good question Paul. This needs an airing.

I had my pixma 9000 printer head fail after one year, using only Canon inks. My 9000 pro II failed after three years with only cheap inks. I can't tell the difference to my eye between the print output with original versus replacement inks; I don't care if my prints outlive me or not (all my 70's era color photos and kodachrome film has long faded away too). I calculate I have saved enough money on ink to pay for two additional pixma pro II computers.

Thanks. They do look similar.
Some were able to buy the Pro-100 when the net cost after free paper and rebates was near zero. If cost is or was the driving factor, the cheap ink could make sense. If the printer croaks from bad ink, nothing is lost.
Using Canon paper, ink and printer my best guess is a 13x19 costs about $4. Maybe $3, maybe $5. I only print for fun and, unfortunately (!), don't often get images truly worth a frame and 2 square feet of scarce wall space. Even if the low ink price drove my print cost to $2, I wouldn't print more than I do.

Please don't- I think you would regret it!
I use LD ink in mine and have had no problems and the quality of prints are excellent. I don't regret it!

I've tried other brands in other printers, and I've never been fully satisfied. I'm sticking with Canon ink for my Pro-100.

No, Canon does not make the ink. It is, however, made to Canon's specifications. This is not just the ink but the entire cartridge. 3rd party gear is reverse engineered, use it at your own risk.
