Unless you are going to be shooting wild life or for some other reason need a camera the would be water proofed enough I do not think that is that much of concern. You can get cases that will protect you camera but what about the lens that you have, most are not water proofed. You can get water proofed cases I believe for under water or rain protection. I personally would not worry about it.

Okay thanks, weather real bad,I will not be out in it.

I'm a Nikon guy, but one of my best friends and birding buddies has a Canon 7D Mark II that he paid around $1800 for new. And it was worth it, it's a wonderful camera. It's even more worth the $1300 range now that holiday promotions are in full force and refurbs are as low as $1000. I've bought lots of refurb gear from the factory, both Nikon and Canon and have never been able to tell it from new. With a camera like that, you will eventually want some good glass, like the 100-400 L series lens if you're into sports and wildlife as you said, or maybe some primes. A word of caution, once you take the plunge into a better body, you will end up with a far larger investment in lenses, tripods, monopods, etc. than what the camera cost. You've been warned! Good luck.

I have the T5i. while taking pictures the other day a black strip got stuck on the mirror (I think that's what it is). I'm going to send it in to get fixed but....it was my excuse to buy a new camera. I got the EOS 7DII. I just used it today and liking it. I do wildlife and birds.

Just an idea here but get another t5i, along with a few lenses, then use your existing Rebel as a back up. It sounds like you are happy with what you. Whenever I buy a back up camera, I try to duplicate what I have since I already know how it works.

I started out with a 40D graduated to 7D and just upgraded to a7DM11 and am enjoying the camera. A lot more bells and whistles but easy to learn . Great action and sports camera.

I have been using a Canon Rebel T5i, but I want to up grade. I shoot alots of sports, basketball, baseball and rodeos. I am a beginner. But I want to be able to use my lens that I have ,on my new camera.Do not want to have to go buy more lens.Price range $2000. Have no problem buying used cameras. Thanks

I'd go for a "refurbished" Canon 7d Mark II. They are having sales all the time. Go to "Canonusa.com/Refurbished". Good luck

Aim high, rather than low. used and refurb will get you a better camera for less money than new. Also, read reviews and comparisons.
