Nikon has decided to give up and have listed my issue as resolved. Issue # 151201-001477-
Got a new version of Windows 10 Home today and installed it. It took several hours.
Decided to try NX-I again. I have saved on a thumb drive.
It worked this time and NX-D does too and neither one runs slow.
It appears that the culprit is windows.

I have to ask. you have viewnx2 on your computer. Why install a pervious version? like having photoshop elements14 and installing elements 9? I actually like the Nikon software view nx-2, captuenx2 and Nikon transfer. I tend to use the raw converter in view nx2 more then the adobe raw converter

What I don't understand is:
To install View NX-I, View NX2 needs to be installed.
I have uninstalled NX2 manually (actual several times) cleaned the registry thoroughly and NX-I will not install. I've tried with NX2 installed and still no success.
I even tried it on a different W10 version with out success.
Do have NXi running on w10?
Up date:
Got a tip from someone on a DPR forum to remove from the registry key "5CAD-3393-EECO-44CE-9F93-BCAA-365B-77FB"
It partially worked. Was able to down load view nx-i and install it but it would not open.
Back to where I was before.

This has worked for me. Run msconfig, turn off Nikon message center. Restart to safe mode, execute your software from your down load. You must have the full down load and not just the down load link. This has worked on several Win 7 64 bit machines. I believe the key was to turn off "Nikon Message Center".

I have a new pc...did the win 10update...then installed NX-i...no problems at all running it. I gave up Capture because Nikon doesn't support it anymore.

Thanks for the suggestion but...
I had no problem with Win7 or Win 10 until it was updated. Just for fun I uninstalled message center and reloaded View nx-i...didn't work.

Thanks for the suggestion; been there done that.
Had View NX2 installed. View NX-i runs ok on my win10 home machine. You probably are not running win 10 pro.
Presently I have both NX2 and NX-I installed but NX-I will not open. NX2 runs OK.
Capture NX2 and NX-D work ok too.
I have tried every combination, bought and used a registry cleaner, manually cleaned the registry, loaded and uninstalled and reinstalled each Nikon program many times, consulted Nikon (they gave up), followed all reasonable suggestions... all to no avail.
The trouble shooter says the program is not compatible.
I have one option left. I'm having a new custom Win 10 Pro computer on order (unrelated to this problem) which will be delivered in about 8-10 days. Will do a clean install of my programs, including View NX-I and if it doesn't work will conclude it is not compatible and give up.

The brown truck delivered my new computer yesterday. The driver said he has never delivered a computer that was so heavy. It is a monster Windows 10 Pro machine.
One of the first things I did was load View NX-I and Capture NX-D and they are up and running, no problems.
I take back all the bad thoughts I had about Nikon software.
