Its a lovely portrait johnnieg, as for the cropping, I would probably and added a bit top and bottom to include the complete ear and chin whiskers,

as someone who photographs dogs for a local shelter (the pics go on their website for adoption)this is what we like to post. A nice clear shot of the face. Great job
