if budget is a concern, try someplace like b&hphoto online and buy used or refurbished. i have purchased several lenses from bhphoto, they rate the condition of the lens, and if you stay with 8.5 to 9 or higher, i have never had a problem.

My 55-300 dx and my 18-55 dx were both refurbs earlier this year (either BH or Adorama- can't recall, at least one was Adorama).

I got total coverage from 18-300 for $300.00. They seem/feel brand new to my hands and eyes.

I will probably be wearing my "Kodachrome" T-shirt from Dwayne's camera store in Kansas.

I just purchased a Nikon D7200 to replace a Nikon 3100. I would like to have a recommendation for a prime lens for less than $250.

I have a D7200 and a 35mm 1.8G as well as an 85mm 3.5 macro which I purchased separately and love them. For just a little more, you can get the combo at a great price from B&H or Adorama.

The old guy that ran the last function camera store in town died the day the last roll of CROME was ran. When asked about digital the only harsh word he every said was F-IT! His store sign is at the museum FRED'S PHOTO
