As a WWII, Occupation of Germany, and Korea War vet, I hope I speak..not for myself...but for my military comrades.

Among the many things Americans have to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, we should be thankful most of all for our Veterans and their service to this country. Give 'em a thought. Perhaps, a silent word of thanks. I thank all Vets who came before me, and those who came after.

I agree. I am thankful for my military experience and for all those that came before me and will continue to do so many years after me. I think it is a crying shame what our government is doing to our military numbers each year. And will continue to do so until we get some back in office like Reagan.

Thank you, My dad served on an escort carrier in the Japanese theater, and just passed in March, My brothers and I all served in Viet Nam. I'm hoping right now that my grand children are not about to see WWIII.

You are welcome. Thank y'all for serving our country and my commiserations on your Dad's passing.

One of my Grandfathers, my Father, my Older Brother, myself, my Nephew, and 2 of my Nieces are all veterans of either WWI, WWII, Korea, Viet Nam era, Afghanistan and Iraq. It is not just a tradition, but an honor to have relatives and siblings who are Vets. To all Veterans, in all branches of the service, past, present, and future, Thank you for your service, no matter how large or small as it all matters.
I wish it was a requirement for the Commander in Chief to have at least one tour of military service, but as of now, that is not a requirement.

I thank you one and all for your service to our country. I hear you about the CIC. :(

This is worth watching and sharing --even if you saw it before.

That is very moving. I wish our country honoured its' serving men and women, and its' veterans, as yours does. I was in New York on Veterans Day last November, and watched as they all paraded up 5th Avenue. The respect and applause they got from the people as they passed was amazing. It does not happen in the UK, more shame on us.

My Grandson and his wife both have done two tours in Afghanistan, USMC, and yesterday when we went around the table of 21 for each one to express their individual Thanks, my Grandson's contribution was short---"I thank my brothers who aren't with their families today"---In the silence that followed, his wife added (because I'm sure she knows a lot more than we do or ever will)---"I thank them too because _____wouldn't be here with me today either" They both said "Semper Fi" for them all!
A VERY proud Grandfather!!!

Amen Robert and rightly so. My son fought in the first Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm and was fortunate to come through unscathed for which we will be eternally grateful. Lost a friend in Vietnam and another one recently from the effects of Agent Orange. :(

Very inspiring. Hope the kids growing up now will sometime understand what their ancestors did for all of us.

It was a great sacrifice what they did (and do) for mankind and our freedoms. No greater honor has ever been earned than by those who served

I pray that we never forget those that accomplished what they did.

When discussing military families how far do you go back? I suppose with a bit of research and some luck a few of you might track your ancestors back to the Middle Ages or a bit before but to what end? One of my brother-in-law’s is happy with his Mayflower ancestors and Civil War veterans. I figure WWI is back far enough so one of my grandfathers served in the Austro-Hungarian Empire Calvary while another was impressed into the Kaisers Army to fight against the Russians. One uncle survived three torpedoing’s in the WWII Merchant Marine, my dad was an artillery forward observer in the European Theater, his brother fought at the Bulge and another uncle still rests somewhere on New Guinea. My aunt retired from the AF as a LT. Col. after serving in Korea as a flight nurse and I served 27 years in the AF fixing weather equipment and doing weather modification research. My younger brother did his thing in Vietnam and the Golf Wars and retired as a Sgt. Maj and so continuing the tradition my son is an officer on active duty after his turn in the sand box. Sure, thank all those who served but pray and support those who will now have to fight and die to clean up the mess the Chicago jive turkey in the White House left as his “legacy”. What will it be; making Europe Muslim, necessitating the third crusade, another cold war, another decade of race riots or just WWIII?

Yes we all respect the veterans, Was such a long family history necessary to make an insipid political point?
