Hey Scubie, aren't you the guy who likes making over-the-top statement just to get everyone up in arms?
I think you lay awake nights trying to figure out how you yank our chains.

Sorry, but evolution is not a proven fact. There is more evidence proving evolution than there is proving religion.

Religion is based on fear and superstition. It is something you BELIEVE. It is not something you KNOW. Many people do not believe. They question. That doesn't make them bad. They are just using the brains that "god" gave them. : ) Hee hee.

Scubie, they have values - values from the mind not the heart. Values based on greed - me - mine, look back at Madilyn Murray O'Haira her own son did her in.

Do the names Jim Bakker, Ted Haggard, Jimmy Swaggart and Robert Tilton ring any bells?

List of scandals involving evangelists:

don't forget billy g junior who inherited his dad's corporation and good looks but missed out on the calling part and now panders to the right wing to add his voice to all those wanting us to believe obama is bezelbub in disguise

Now those are people I can relate to. They are men of the cloth that have many of life's experiences surreptitiously under their belt. Albeit they relegate them to the back burner. The question is: would you take your car to a mechanic with no mechanical experience? Would you have someone counsel you about adultery that was naive about the subject/. Of corse you would not. It makes more sense to position your faith in someone like, these experienced men. Where you can easily plant a seed and have it grow much larger. It will according to them bring you a bountiful harvest. Even if you desire inequity and sin that is your responsibility. But you must send the fruits to them and limit your indulgence it must be fun and profitable or they would not do it. I chose Jimmy Swagger because he is a very fine singer non-hypercritical ( since he was caught) although a little dogmatic. But that never hurt anything. It only adds intrigue and excitement to the situation.

The bible was written by people who thought the world was flat.

Not true as in Isaiah 40:22 the Bible says that God sits enthroned above the sphere of the earth. What's a sphere? The problem isn't the Bible it's our lack of study. If folks would have just believed what it says they'd have known the earth was not flat.

I believe that my ancestors were rocks, or maybe a slimy fish with no eyes that breathed carbon monoxide and ran around dodging exploding volcanoes. Their children grew long claws to climb the trees to get a better view of these volcanoes, and on and on. NOT. Evolution????? Hmmm, my kids look like I do for the most part.

If either position could be “proven” we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

I think the American people should take a very close look at it's leaders and take the time to really evaluate them. America has started to eliminate God and it's basic values are being put under the rug. America was founded on Conservative values and certainly our foundation was influenced by God. Everyone has religious freedom guaranteed by our constitution but some just had to come up with away to slip in athiest values. Our Surpreme court bought into the Separation of Church and State to stop prayer in anything that is government. That includes schools, government institutions and even the military. When Thomas Jefferson drafted this thought it was not meant to take God from our country as implied by some. I contend we should all get together and change this slap to America and if it means getting rid of those in the Surpreme court that advocate this lie, so be it. This ought to get your blood boiling. Have a great day. I am sure I am gonna catch H--- with this one.

I assume you mean that you want [i]your[i] god to be the one in charge? Yes, stop right there and think about what you're saying, if thinking is a possibility for you. And try to consider what's best for the people of a deliberately diverse nation such as ours. Remember where these diverse people came from and why. America was founded on liberal values, liberal for the time. It has, unfortunately, been marching one jack-boot step at a time to the extreme right in recent decades, not in search of god but mammon. As for the Supremes, they are at this time more conservative than in the history of the nation and they have abdicated their responsibilities to uphold the Constitution and begun to make law.

And while you're at it, consider this: All gods were invented by men and those men chose to govern their lives by superstition, much as you apparently do. There's nothing wrong with having faith, but a faith unexamined is no faith at all. God, in my view, has not yet been imagined by mankind nor is he likely to be. Tend to your own failings and let others tend to theirs. Have a nice day.

This is among the most naive statements I've read of late, almost charming in its naivete. The Bible was written by men, translated over and over by other men, chapters and verses decided upon and discarded by a committee and you think it should be taken verbatim?

That is what being an American is all about-"In a free country there is much clamour, with little suffering; in a despotic state there is little complaint, with much grievance." -Carnot-

And my favorite daily reminder-"Be not too hasty to trust or admire the teachers of morality; they discourse like angels, but they live like men."

Evolution has been proven. But if you went to school in certain states, particularly in the south, you might not know that.

I agree! It is our own fault for not paying attention to the values of the people we vote for.
