Does it have the ability to import your LR catalog, including edits, keywords, captions, etc.?

I don't think so. It doesn't use a catalog, but I'd suggest asking Alien skin to make sure.

"...download the latest version of OUR products." I'm just wondering for clarification purposes, are you an owner or employee of this company, or was this statement meant to say "...THEIR products." I am honestly not trying to start a rant or cause a problem, just trying to understand where 35,000 feet is. Thank you for the clarification...and if you are an employee or owner, do you five forum members a discount? 😀 I will take a look at this...always looking for alternatives.

You cannot cancel online. When you choose the "cancel my subscription" option online, it tells you that you MUST call customer service as that isn't available online.

Sorry, been there done that.
The only problem you can run into is when you cancel before the one year contract ends which is a contractual obligation.

I'm not familiar with the product, but it sounds like it uses sidecar files for storing edits. So, if you had, say, 50,000 RAW files you had edited with LR, would it read the LR catalog during a conversion and create sidecars? Otherwise, you'd be left with choices of converting all those RAW's to JPG or TIF from Lightroom, or re-editing them with Alien Skin. And if you've already associated 5,000 keywords with those files, that would be a huge job to re-create if Alien Skin can't do so.

While we can all find objections to any change I think those who want to do so could do it w/o our objections.

I only took exception to the 'nagging advertised' as I did not experience it at all.

What folks do not quite realize is that LR is a minor part of the PS CC subscription as this is where the real editing meat is. This is not an advertisement for PS CC but an observation. You can use GIMP as an alternative add-in to this software and be more than happy with that switch too.

I would not pay 9.99 for LR alone. I do not use LR.

I have been using the Adobe light room and Photoshop for $10 a month for two years now and have been happy.
Just recently I saw a preview of alien skin exposure X and immediately I recognized that it was a lightroom killer.

I have been using it (version 7) since yesterday I am and I am very impressed. For my needs it does the job very well and it will pay for itself in a year based on saving $11 a month on the Adobe subscription.

If your editing, like mine, is minimal and basic you might want to check it out.

Will the program open RAW files from a Canon 7DII?

Is this a cloud program? I have not had much luck running cloud programs because of Slow or intermittent IP server. to many delays and stalls. When I had ATT I did not have that problem but can only get Com Cast here, which is not reliable and consistent.

I have tried cloud storage and a program not relative to photography and at times I could not get much done other times not as bad but not good.

I gave the instructions on how to do that on line in this post....

It is not straight forward, granted, but possible.

I can not imagine digital photography without Photoshop. It takes homework but once learned, PS has no equal. Lightroom is a pleasure. Adobe CC support is excellent.

The $10.00 a month subscription is today's best bargain in photography, in my opinion. 33 pennies a day!

I, too, have DxO Optics Pro, and I like it very much. Reasonably priced, in my opinion, and very powerful.

Nice to have options, particularly if Lightroom go to subscription which I hope they don't.
