Hershel,

Be cautious in this thread. Besides the varying opinions on who is right or wrong, there has also been a clear antisemitic post in relation to this "problem" that Admin has not responded to yet and surprising few others have reacted to. I'm not sure if you're aware that Helen Oster has already signaled she will no longer participate until that issue is resolved.

Agreed, but Hershel seems to have been extremely professional and well grounded over the years from what I have seen.

It is probably us that should be careful so that we police our own community and not expose Hershel or Helen or others - for example Muslims - to unacceptable abuse. There are bad actors in all communities.

Admin needs to deal with this and also to make a public statement in my personal opinion.

So the steelworkers union having destroyed th steel industry in the United States and driven most large steel users either to right to work states or offshore is now trying to scrape up membership by unionizing B&H.
New York is an expensive heavily unionized bastion of left wing thought. It would behoove B&H to consider moving their entire operation to Atlanta, Baton Rouge, Phoenix or some other area with a significantly lower cost of living and doing business. They can keep a retail presence in NY if they wish but the bulk of their operations should move and let the corrupt unions grovel for more low hanging fruit.

...or, how about China? Five dollars a day and no worries about those horrible, corrupt, left wing unions that have destroyed this country! Yes, this is called sarcasm, in case you missed it.

One of our favorite sellers, B&H, has been getting bad publicity for unfair labor practices. It will be interesting to see how this develops. Lots of references on Google.

They must be a very good company to get this sort of attack.
Kind of like Walmart.

Helen, this has nothing to do with photography in general and evolves public opinion, and you know what that is like. Don't take it to heart, I have had many disputes with people on this forum, but I don't take it personally and some people don't even believe what they are expounding they just like to start arguments. Personally I believe both your company and B&H do an outstanding job for their customers and any internal problems that they may have are no different than most companies doing business for the public. I hope you stick with UHH and don't let these petty discussions upset you.

I think you're missing the point of why Helen and many others are upset. Some lowlife cretin named Carl Hervol posted this:

"Lets face it these companies are all run by jews and there noted for this kind of thing just look a Hollywood if your not a jew you have a hard time getting places this is part of the reason the germans during ww 2 try to got rid of them .In a lot of case you just trust them. And they do not like blacks to work form them."

While I couldn't agree more with the negative comments made in response to this cretinous remark, I believe that the most appropriate response to such ignorant and, obviously, borderline illiterate utterances is to totally ignore them. Such individuals would probably be gratified to think that they might have driven a valuable contributor like Helen from the forum.

Hey, there are idiots all over and some on UHH that like to start an argument they don't even believe. Though his remarks are slanderous and stupid he doesn't speak for the sane ones, and let's agree that we have freedom of speech that would not be allowed in other countries. If he truly believes (or is in the religious persuasion) to hate Jewish people that is his right though I disagree with him, just don't let him act on his beliefs. By the way I was born Jewish by refugees of the second world war and lost my grandparents, uncles and aunts in the holocaust.

Is anyone really going to trust something that Al Jazeera reports? Remember, this is a Jewish owned business and I doubt the Arabs are going to say anything kind about them. As far as the unions go, I was a union employee (unwillingly) all my life. They are for the most part worthless.

Why tag Al Jazeera as extremely biased? Based on the fact that they are a Muslim company? What if they were a Christian, a Catholic, a Buddhist, a Hindu, etc owned company?

Isn't that a little bigoted? I have never watched their news station before but I have not heard anything out of line about what they report either. Would you say that they are less/more biased than say FOX News? CNN? MSNBC? Just curious how you come to this opinion?

Not in the least. It's just the fact that they, a Muslim company would be the only ones to report on this. That at least to me means they're looking for someone to single out in what really amounts to a minor labor dispute. Nothing more, nothing less.

Al Jazeera is not the only one to report on this, it is the primary publication that has been referenced so far. There is a difference. It does not necessarily imply a more insidious motive, even if we do not expect them to take a supportive stance with B&H.

As I said, aside from "some" people involved in photography, this is a minor labor dispute which is not even worth reporting.

It is very hard for a Muslim company not to be biased against Jews/Jewish firms. Their theology says so. I have lot of Muslim friends from my childhood. I have found that their allegiance always go with the Muslim countries and they call Israel, pariah. Thanks to the PC of AlGore, Aljazeera go a foot hold in the US media world. Anyway, B&H has good prices and fast service. I am afraid, if it would be lost in this upheaval.

There are far more sources than just that big bad "boogeyman Al Jezeera" citing the issues with B&H. If that is true why watch any "news channels" as they all must have a hidden or in the case of a couple "an obvious agenda"!
Until this all plays out no one knows what is truth or fiction. The real truth is probably somewhere in the middle as it almost always seems to be given the time and effort to allow it to play out.

Some one please correct me if I am wrong. A group of Muslims says it has declared war on Israel and the United States. They rocket Israel. They kill Israelis in their home country. They attack the U.S. and kill numerous Americans on American soil. They behead numerous Christians and post videos on the Internet graphically showing this slaughter. They break a peace treaty with Israel. They sponsor a tv news station and we are to take their reporting as unbiased so as to look politically correct? I guess I am getting old. If we had done this during WW II, we would be speaking German if we were still here. I must have missed the boat on this issue.

I just read on Google that the same thing is happening to Adarama and all other photo retailers throughout the world. Something surely is "developing". Love Google don't you, you can really relay on it for accuracy and honesty.

Google is not investigating this they are only passing on what they are told. The truth may be something else.
