I know we are all camera folks. This is easy to gossip about, and create buzz. I remain hopeful that we as a group allow our better selves to govern our more basic intincts in this.
I plan to continue to use B&H as my go to camera store as I have for the past 15 years. Gossip without reliable information has never concerned me. I just find it interesting that folks on this site make decisions "not to buy" before they hear the "other side of the story". I just find it very interesting what people say when they really don't have all the facts.

Is that what you think is happening here?
I did not read that into the interactions at this stage....

I just read on Google that the same thing is happening to Adarama ....
If you mean 'Adorama' then I'd like you to edit your comment - as this is untrue.

I have not heard B and H's reply but I do know a couple of things. Al Jazeera America is a shill for the Muslim world and I believe B&H is Jewish owned. I will not be too quick to believe anything a Muslim front group has to say.

Indeed. If I were them I would relocate the warehouse operation somewhere where workers want to work. ;)
And I agree this thread should be moved elsewhere- the Attic?
yeah, where workers have to work for peanuts, under lousy conditions.

I for one would be hesitant to deal with them until they get this settled. Adorama could well benefit from this issue. Hopefully they (Adorama) have not followed the same course of action.[/quote]
I bought a camera bag from them Tuesday (10/13), the transaction was handled as always, item will be delivered today. Their issues don't seem to be impacting their sales and delivery.

Please tell us, how did you arrive at that conclusion. B & H is the largest supplier of our tools for photography.

One of the greatest things we enjoy as Americans is freedom of speech. Here we are participating in that. Another great American ideal is our standard for justice, "Innocent until proven guilty".
Every UHH member's opinion is worth something, but the facts will eventually emerge and then each of us can choose what we want to do.
I don't see the value in throwing B&H under the bus. They have proven themselves to be very reliable in so many ways. Same can be said for Adorama. Let's face it, no entity is perfect. If some distasteful business practices are confirmed, hopefully they will be addressed and fixed. Why does it seem so popular to criticize "big business"? Let's not be hypocrites.

Yes ...
tools for photography.Did B&H Photo treat it's workers wrong ... I do not know.
But whether they did or did not ... it has nothing to do with "
photography",
which is why I read this section of the forum ... "
Main Photography Discussion."

As to accuse al jazzera of being a propaganda tool you know very little. Yes, it is a middle east TV station. Yes, most of not all the staff is Muslim. No, it does not mean they are extremists or promote extremist views. This outfit has been creating waves all over the middle east for its programming. It is highly controversial there. Several times had its journalists have put in jail for what they are exposing. Saudi Arabia rulers are particularly upset at its reporting. Al Jazeera is based in Quatar and modeled on the BBC funding as well as editorial policies. 'Modeled' being they keyword Qatar rulers keep a tight eye on their creation and use it as a diplomatic tool in the middle east which does not please the other gulf countries.
Now if you take the time to follow some of the links provided within the few articles and you will find that this unlike other stories this is well documented.

It does not take long to find related stories. That some are old is not a reason to dismiss them at all, quite the contrary. They show that the company has a long history of labor problems that cannot be 'dismissed out of hand'.
This is a pastern you see in many large companies that are sometimes tech oriented, just check Apple, Dell and who knows who else. While the clothing industry is the most notorious for unfair labor practice it is far from being the only one. In the US, just look at the farming industry...
Enough said.

Agree completely.
This can't go in the Attic. It does not meet the Attic's standards for vulgarity, hatefulness, bigotry and personal insult.
