Nice shots. I have the Tokina 11-16mm and I want to use it to capture shots like these.

I had the Canon EF-mount version of that lens; it was the one thing I really missed when my Canon Rebel died and I moved to Pentax ... but then I was able to get a K-mount version of it, and all is well with the world again. Personally, I use it mostly in museums, where narrow aisles make it hard for me to take the picture I want.

I have taken very few pictures with the K-mount version, but here are a couple of straight out of camera (absolutely no changes by me) images from our trip to the Henry Ford Museum last month.

Thank you.

I used to use the Sigma 10-20mm when my main cameras were DX cropped) models...that gave me an effective zoom range of 15-30mm. Great lens! When I switched to FX (full frame), I immediately bought the full frame Sigma version - the 12-24mm. I use(d) these lenses for real estate interiors. Lots of distortion (as expected) in these ultra wide angle lenses...keep the camera body level, when you can, to minimize vertical distortion (curving vertical lines) and fix the rest in Photoshop. Photos taken with the Sigma 12-24mm.

I use the Sigma 10-20 on may Canon bodies (both, like yours, are APS-C). It's been my go-to lens for landscapes. Very satisfied.

I like mine more the more I use it. Which is whenever I, uh, want to include more in the photo.

Yes, when I bought mine for the Canon EF-S mount, the seller was advertising it as "when you can't back up any more". That dramatizes one use of the lens. Another, perhaps better use, is when you are standing at exactly the spot which gives the perspective you want, but your standard lens doesn't include all of the view you consider to be an important part of the picture.

There are actually two Sigma 10-20mm lenses:

A cheaper one with a variable f4-5.6 aperture.

And a more expensive one with f3.5 aperture throughout.

The f4-5.6 is one of the least expensive ultrawides for crop sensor cameras, while the f3.5 is one of the most expensive. The f3.5 is one of the largest and heaviest, too. It's the only crop-sensor ultrawide that uses 82mm filters, for example. All others use 77mm or smaller.

They are both pretty good lenses. The cheaper f4-5.6 has some moderate flare issues, which you can see in some of the sample shots above. You also see some strong perspective distortions, which are hard to avoid in such a wide lens. It looks as if you might need to watch out for vignetting caused by a filter, too.

Sigma make two versions of the 10 - 2-mm Lens; - one with a constant aperture - (which costs a bit more than the one with decreasing aperture). You cant go wrong with either one of these Sigma's
