I am looking to sell one lens and purchase another more expensive one. There are no camera stores located near me, so I generally shop online. I have contacted Adorama about selling the lens and they will send a prepaid mailer to send it to them. Has anyone sold used equipment to either Adorama or B&H? If so, do you feel they paid a fair price for the equipment? I recognize they must make a profit on any used purchase, but I don't want to give a nice lens away either.
I buy all my used lenses from ebay from sellers with no less than 100% feedback and in Mint condition with box. I usually save on average 30-35% over buying new. When I sell that lens about two years later, I lose about 5-10% over what I bought it for. I baby my lenses so they are still Mint to Mint- when I sell them. It is so much less than renting and a lot better than buying new and losing money from the start. I have never, repeat, never gotten a bad deal buying mint from 100% sellers.
What kind of lens are you selling, describe it, how much!Who pays for shipping? Need More details

Hi,
Your return will be much better is you sell via Amazon or Ebay
Mark
From what I have heard, they are both good. However, you will probably get more by selling it on ebay. Look up you lens on ebay and go down the left column and click on Sold items. You'll see how much people were willing to pay for it.
You can list for free, but you'll have to pay a commission to both ebay and PayPal.
Adore a is a reputable company. They are connected with the New York institute of photography. I an looking to buy a used lens through them
I have sold equipment to B&H one thought to concider? When you buy cameras from B&H you pay top $$$$ when you sell it back your cameras
Are used not the Top equipment you purchased. I am considering selling
A sony A6000 with Zeiss 32mm lens, I took an extra fish oil so it will not
Hurt as much when I bend over and get my colonoscopy exam at the camera store.

I have sold on ebay and KEH and have been happy with the results. Conversely, you can just list it on the UHH site. I generally see that selling on UHH yields better returns for the seller.
Have sold cameras and lenses to B&H multiple times over the past ten years. Always fair and prompt in payment. Most of the tome, like you, I "reinvested" the proceeds in more camera gear.
I suspect just about all the used dealers pay around 50% of the amount they plan to sell for. The majors (Adorama, KEH, B&H) are honest, I believe. Hoggers who have received anything close to retail used are certainly invited to let us know the dealer's name, and their experience. Meanwhile, ETSY, Ebay, and other used markets might provide good research info regarding worth. Thanks, Mercer

You are going to get more money for your lens if you can sell it through Craigs List. If you can't try KEH, I just sold them a L series lens and they were very fair and quick. Go online and get a quote, the trick is to fairly evaluate your lens.

I've sold here, B&H, Adorama, KEH and E-bay. I consider e-bay a bit too much work, but have made the most through those sales. Now, I either sell here or trade locally or to B&H/Adorama. Best of luck.

 Yes, ebay is a little more work but you make the most money this way. And, after all, doesn't everyone want to maximize their profits so that you have more money to spend on even more equipment.
