it's still about the money, a few extra bucks on the bottom line. I've heard rumors that some pipe line monitors have "cheat" software. I wouldn't be surprised. when the pollution chickens come home to roost, the money makers will laff and say, " we stretched it out for extra years and bucks".

Maybe a lot of 'Little Jack Horners' in the world

Little Jack Horner
Sat in the corner,
Eating a Christmas pie;
He put in his thumb,
And pulled out a plum,
And said 'What a good boy am I!

Well, they better care because that same EPA has now caused a recall. That means another tank will eventually be added to each car so another chemical will injected into the exhaust to make California greenies slightly less agitated. More expense for exactly what gain I wonder.
More expense for VW, a slight inconvenience for the owner.

Good for VW.
Too bad they were caught.
I hate the EPA and 90% of the rest of the alphabet soup saddling us with oppressive regulations meant to destroy freedom. Let the public decide what they want.
The founders had counted on an educated public knowing right from wrong.

Big Business cheating? No, say it isn't so! Volkswagen actually designed software to give different emission readings during the EPA testing cycle. This wasn't s mistake; it was a concerted effort to cheat on a test. Of course, none of the top people at VW admit to making the decision to go ahead with that plan. A secretary will probably be blamed for it. One thing is for sure, none of the top VW people will go to jail for this crime.

What mystifies me is the people who think this is okay, if you bought one of these cars you paid for technology that wasn't there. Whether you like the law or not there is a system to change the law and cheating is not the way to do it. Do these same people think it is okay if a hungry man robs a bank? Do the ends justify the means?

Unfortunately, it will be the stockholders that will eventually pay the price with their pocketbooks!

Poor guy is right.
They are only giving him $46 Million pension.
I feel so sad for him.

What this means for the time being is that you can probably get a real bargain on a petrol powered internal combustion VW. I certainly plan to look at one when we trade in our Honda next year.

It is not as if VW has done something dangerous to their customers--EPA regulations are what line the floor of the bovine barn. It is a not a big deal to me.

GM stands for Government Motors. They sold Chrysler to FIAT. VW is a "foreign" entity that does not pay obeisance to the administration.

I don't think we need anymore Clintons or Bushes. They're all too well-connected not to be corrupt to the core.

The problem is that it seems almost all of Washington is too well connected.. We have, due to our lazyness, permitted the creation of a royal class...They dont even have the same health care as we do.. We Really should consider never voting for an incumbent... The good news, if it is good, is that they all live in Washington and are targetable by Irans' nukes. Power corrupts, we really should limit power by getting em the hell out of washington, they can steal all they need in one term... Ed
