Big Business cheating? No, say it isn't so! Volkswagen actually designed software to give different emission readings during the EPA testing cycle. This wasn't s mistake; it was a concerted effort to cheat on a test. Of course, none of the top people at VW admit to making the decision to go ahead with that plan. A secretary will probably be blamed for it. One thing is for sure, none of the top VW people will go to jail for this crime.

The CEO already stepped down.
We get worked over this crap.
But we have the middle east on fire, the Soviet union being rebuilt and other somewhat more pressing issues than car exhaust but this seems to be the world wide issue.
Sad state of affairs.

And who here thinks that he did not know what was going on?
Who here thinks that he did not approve of the deception?
If anybody raises their hands then I have a deed for some swamp land in Florida that you might be interested in.

We happen own a Jetta TDI and love that little car, and who wouldn't at 50 m[g, plus all the power one needs. We just spent a month wandering around in your State, and enjoyed it to the fullest. Here is what we thought of our adventure.

Norm,
Great shots. I have not had the opportunity to see many of the places you took photos of. Always work in Harrisburg and Philly for me. These have inspired me to slow down and visit not just rush through.
If in the Williamsport Area stop by The Terraces and say hello. If in the summer we can hang out in the back yard. At Christmas some hot chocolate.

The poor guy. I wonder if he'll have to go on welfare. Of course, he knew nothing about it.

I am sure this is just the tip of the iceberg. Now I read that some other company is being investigated for the same thing. Must be a slow news week.

I bet there will be others. The car companies have always spent a fortune fighting any legislation that would help the consumer. Years later, after they have been dragged kicking and screaming into the modern world, they advertise all their safety and emissions features.

You can be pretty sure VW aren't the only ones at it. Expect more manufacturers to come 'clean' soon. Perhaps more so here in Europe where I believe Diesel engines are sold over a wider range of vehicles and by more more manufacturers - from high performance right down to small family cars.
I hope the software designers will share blame here too. They must have known it would be used to cheat.

What's crazy is the VW makes great cars that have not sold well in the US due to poor marketing. It looked all of that was about to change and now this is killing their sales.

I see a strain of anti-big business here. Hate 'em if you will, as taught by the biased college teachers, but they are just, in a word, us. If it wasn't for them, we would be eating figs and wiping with our left hand,, like some in the world do.
BMW, too, but they deny it - for now.
