When you visit B&H, ask for Hershel. He is on this site and is very helpful.

Check holiday schedule before you go.

Go to B&H open SUNDAY 10am to 5pm 34th and 9th ave. But i would also walk the Highline. I just read The Highline is closed from 30th st to 34th st but open from 14th st to 30th st. It's at 10th or 11th ave. a great place to walk not to far from B&H. My understanding is that food came into NYC on this train line. When the the trains stopped being used. Instead of destroying the trainline a 'park' was made.

Staying in Manhattan, if I can find some time, what camera/photography stores would you suggest visiting, if any. And which to avoid.
Maybe I can find another birthday present on the trip.
thanks

Do some research. You can find a Leica and Nikon outlet stores. I visited them many years ago.
Their are probable others. (Canon?)

Have a great trip

B&H is a toy store for adults. You won't regret going there, but it closes on Friday afternoon and is not opened on Saturdays for the Sabbath. If you are just in for the weekend it would have to be Sunday.

I think "outlet" is the wrong word.
These places are run by the Nikon or Leica companies.
They DO NOT sell cameras, lenses or anything.
They will show you the equipment and answer any questions you have. These are not salesmen.

I visited these places many years ago.
