I have a 70-300 L lens on sale. My reason is that now that I have turned 70, I am trying to shoot lighter. I have noticed that most of the questions on this site have to do with Nikon cameras. So, we all notice different things, I guess.

Reinaldokool SAID IN PART: "I'm not a fan of Sony, but they are the only quality game in town."

Now that is confusing... if you are saying it is the "Only Quality Game in Town." then why are you not a fan. Not picking on you as a loan wolf.... you are part of the problem of the masses. The photo sheep follow each other to the wolf's den and continue to buy "cameras that are ( not ) the best," but those cameras that you declare to be less than Sony quality are what the majority buy... cause that what all do... say what... that is mass stupidity!!!

Simple, if Sony is best, then buy Sony. Sounds Logical to me?!

Canon EOS M3.

Without a built-in EVF, it is a non-starter for a lot of us. If Panasonic and Olympus can do it, as in their line of Micro 4/3 cameras, why can't Canon?

It's because Canon shooters gradually begin to notice that you never see any of those big white lenses being used by professionals. Never see them at sporting events, never see wildlife or studio photographers using Canon.
When they become aware of this they quickly dump their Canon gear and switch to Sony, Olympus, Panasonic or Fuji.

If you find yourself in this position, if you have high end Canon gear you need to get rid of in a hurry, I suggest you price it for quick sale and let me know.
I may be able to connect you up with a buyer.

Interesting. I started with a Nikon it was issued by the Army. Went into combat with it as a photographer and the mirror was so loud that it drew incoming fire. The Army then issued Leica iiigs and that is what I have shot since.

I just bought a used canon t1 for my grandson to learn on for his school photo course. he is 14. he likes the camera because its menus are intuitive and not as complex as Nikon.

For years I shot Canons, both rangefinder (Yeah some of you young folk may have to look that up. LOL) and SLRs.

When I started my Masters studies at a small school, the school hired me to be the staff photographer. They had Nikons and my boss liked Nikons (His main job was at CBS Sports.) So I got to use their Nikons even off-campus to shoot weddings. I have never gone back to Canon, though I did buy a Mamiyaflex and a Linhof 4x5 for personal use.

I just hope both companies get off the dime and build some worthy mirrorless. I'm not a fan of Sony, but they are the only quality game in town. Whichever of the two comes out with an APS-c or FF mirrorless will get my next camera money.

Since Canon sells more new equipment than others, it stands to reason that more Canon used equipment would be for sale :!:

Both Nikon and Canon are capable of great photos.

I have a Nikon D300, and up to its 12mp limit, I can not really see any significant difference between my 8 year old camera and the new cameras. My buddy has a Nikon D7100 and we both took the same photo with the same settings on a tripod and printed them 8x10. They look, for all intents and purposes, the same.

The Nikon D300 does have a few advantage over the Nikon D7100, it is built like a tank, noticeably heavier, weather sealed and all the main controls are NOT in menus.

I love my Nikon D300

Nobody wants to buy Nikon so the Nikon shooters have given up trying to sell it? You can find it all on e-bay. Just search for "useless stuff made into knick-knacks"! :-D
Just kidding! What's for sale here on UHH is probably more a matter of when you look then the brand. I've noticed at times a lot of Nikon and at other times a lot of Canon.

I thought I might find some good stuff on ebay using your search, but, nope, not today. No Nikon or Canon either made into knick-knack.

Funny you should say that. Until a few days ago I thought it was mostly Nikon gear that was for sale.

I think it has to do with new models, when Canon comes out with a new model, many put their old ones up for sale in order to move up. Same with Nikon, or any other brand. It seldom has anything to do with switching.

Well one of my cameras is a Hasselblad 500c (1961) which I would not upgrade. Solid as a rock.

Never had a Pentax nor even held one but I know that they have a good reputation.
I have too much Nikon to switch sides.

Now I see some reasoning for what I saw in the classifieds here. I noticed it one day a week or two ago and it just seemed that it was mainly Canon for sale.
Some very reasonable analysis here. Likening it to seeing car/trucks for sale, or Canon having a greater share of the market. That's kind of like why Microsoft products experience more virus attacks. They are used by more computers.
I did have a Canon camera back in the ye olde days of film. Lost it in a cab in NYC. And I have had several Canon P&S's including my SX 50.
If it hadn't been for seeing a beautiful image of a lily pad on water by a landlord years ago, I probably would still be using Canon...or Pentax, or other.
Thanks for all your thoughts and analysis.
BTW at most of the baseball games I go to, I see many of those big, white lenses. Then again, some days it's all Nikon.

I also have a 500c and you are absolutely right it's rock solid. I've been a film photographer since I was 13 (50) years ago, but I am slowly getting into the digital world.
