nikon still offers free downloads for discontinued cameras, lenses and acsesories like flash guns. for current models it is not unreasonable for them to expect payment on manuals or any other acsessory. I like the fact that i could download for free the manualsfor my d-100, n-90x,sb-20 etc. Think of it this way you invested how much for that camera? will an extra 9.00 break you?
I was going to say that you should be able to get pretty much any of their manuals. I followed your directions awhile back and was able to get a pdf copy of the manual for my P500 I could download to my computer for free. The only way to get the manual from them in the first place was to use it on the cd they sent with the camera and then if you wanted a printed version they told you to print it yourself. Printing it for myself was fine, but they made the cds they sent out so that you couldn't download and keep the manual on the computer. You had to stick the cd in every time. Well I have a netbook I want to use while traveling and guess what no cd drive. So now I can download the manual and have it there and not have worry about the crazy cd.
