Yeah Chris, it really launched the body boarder! Poeple have died in this place (the Wedge) before. They typically break their necks when hitting the shallow sand.
I've never seen a surfer wearing a full body wetsuit and fins. Is that unusual?
Hi Brent, I was wondering exactly about that. Wow....all should be careful! Nice post.

It all depends upon the water temperature. Right now it would be very unusual since we are having very warm water......75 degrees.

It's usually the unexperienced that die at the Wedge. You can ride the sometimes 20' waves and do it safely if you know what you are doing.

If you are not experienced in being in big surf like this Sirius_one, it is insanity!

That's gotta hurt!
As a youngster I got pounded a few by waves.
Never got hurt bad, but had sand in my crack a few. Got bounced on my head by one memorable wave.
Coulda broke my neck. Surprise and dismay to some, I'm still here.
Did you shoot that Brent? Awesome!

I know I'm probably not doing the right thing by posting a video that I didn't create, but I just loved the visualtion of the clip and had to share. I'm glad you don't have a broken neck Sonny. Thanks for your comments.

Well Brent, I, for one, don't care if you actually shot it or not. It is some awesome "footage" by any means. Thanks for sharing it.
Watching surf on Hawaii's North Shore is a bit like that where the waves just up and crash.
Several tons of water can hammer the life out of ya in seconds.
BOOM!
And if there is a rock in the picture, it may as well be Thor's hammer.

Because he's Boogie boarding, not surfing  Wet suits are the norm here.
Is the Wedge at Santa Monica? I first saw that wave when attending an old surfing movie at the Kaiser auditorium at Waikiki in 1961.
