Is this topic about subjective feelings about cameras really worth spending a morning typing away on a keyboard over? I think I'll go outside and chase grasshoppers instead.

No. I HATE HATE HATE learning new technology!!!!! My cell-phone is three generations back, my car is 22 years old. I'm still on a steep learning curve for my Nikon D600 and I'd rather die than have to start over with something new.

No, Nikon is the only brand, other than med format, I've used in years. Be to much trouble to have to learn all that stuff again. But I have been thinking lately about getting a Pentax DSLR to fool with.

Craggy, I've got to support SS, Canons feel best to me, last Nikon I handled was awkward, better than years ago but awkward, Pentax was nice but heavy and expensive for what I would get, I had film cameras that felt better than Canon, even though I drooled over the F1, but of the cameras I would consider Canon is the best feeling to me, Bob.

No harm (to me) in giving him your support, Bob. As I mentioned, I like SS's contributions ...... OK he goes over the top at times, but he's not alone, and it's good to see such support. You've been around here some time, too - the banter, as long as it's not out-and-out vilification, is fine too ...... amusing to me. I liken it to supporting your football (soccer) or rugby team or any team sport ..... it/they sort of become part of you. No harm in that. And of course a Nikon "feels" different, just as a Canon would for me. Funny thing is,after using a Fuji X-T1 for a while, even though I still use my D700 a lot, I've "got used to it" too. It's like acquiring a new car that is different to your last one ...... in a relatively short time you'll get used to it and new habits are quite easily formed ! SS has one (habit), I have 2 with which I'm quite comfy too !

If someone offered the equivalent lenses and camera body (same age, same condition) of a different brand (you chose the brand) would you trade? Why or why not.

I would not make the trade. One reason is that I am very comfortable with how my camera works and shots and the learning curve would not justify an even exchange. Secondly I would be getting someone else's used equipment with who knows what care it has received. I also like the Canon line of equipment.

If I'd thought something else was equivalent to what I was going to purchase, there'd be no point unless money was saved. Equivalent and different brand are antonyms, irreconcilable. At any rate, No I would not change because I love my D810 and have enough learning to do to last me a lifetime! -:)

NO. I like what I have and I am comfortable using it. When a new version comes out, I can apply what I know and make adjustments for new/changed features. Nothing wrong with any of the other systems, I've just been using mine for decades.

I am a Canon guy and my niece is a PRO Wedding photographer who shoots Nikon. I have tried her camera's [D700 & D750], they are good and solid, but I still prefer my Canon's.
