If someone offered the equivalent lenses and camera body (same age, same condition) of a different brand (you chose the brand) would you trade? Why or why not.

No no no no no!!! I haven't even figured out all of the things my cameras are capable of, learning a whole new system would be a pain. And yes, I am a Nikon Fan boy!

No thanks, I like shooting Nikon :) Still plenty more to learn and master without adding more to the lesson plan.

I agree. Why would I change manufacturers when I really like the camera I have? Also why would I want to learn a new camera when I am happy with what I have. Incidentally, I also have a Nikon.

It would depend on the brand being offered.

No, I would not trade for another brand. The first digital camera I purchased was a Canon. I also purchased a point and shoot Nikon for my husband and his Nikon had better image quality than the Canon DSLR.After a couple of years of trying to make it work better than the Nikon I stopped using it and put it away. Years later I bought a Nikon D7000 and learned how to use it. Thinking that maybe what was wrong with the Canon was my lack of knowledge I pulled the Canon out of the closet, charged it up and then took both cameras out to take pictures. I tried a lot of variations to give the Canon the chance to be my second camera. After loading both sets on the computer I realized it was not me that was the problem and took the Canon and all the accessories I purchased for it to a camera store and traded it in on items I could use with the Nikon.

I know that Canon has come a long way since then and I have seen some amazing photos taken with Canons but I won't purchase another Canon and am not interested in another brand at this time. I am currently trying to decide between the Nikon D750 and the D810.

I would have to change lenses and camera. A big investment cannot be changed just like that. The answer from me is NO at this point. Yes if I only had one camera and one lens attached AND I want to try something else AND i know it is better.

Nope. There are so many differences to consider. One that comes to mind, given your example, is the menu. It is a pain to learn on any brand and I would not want to EVER have to learn another manufacturers menus. ;)

John, having used both the older 7D and a D7100, the Nikon was clearly the winner for images between these two. But, the Canon was the much more rugged body and used Canon's overall less complex menu system. The 7DII is superior to anything Nikon currently has with a DX sensor. So, you could make the better (or worse) of swapping either of the bodies you have listed. I'm less familiar with Nikon's alphabet soup of AS/D/G/etc lenses to say which are comparable to the L lenses you have in your collection. I'd think long and hard about Nikon as a swap and would only barely consider Sony.

No, I put a lot of thought, consideration, research into what I have now. And I still have a lifetime of learning on what I already own ;)

Maybe to have the opportunity to try another camera... for 5 minutes.

As a permanent trade? Not on your life!

Why not? The camera I have was made for my hands and shoulders (weight). The image stabilization is extremely good: I can take a tack-sharp photo with the hand-held camera, at 1/20 second (and f/8, ISO 400 at 23mm focal length.
I'm fattening up my piggy bank to purchase my next lens, and once I've got that, I'll have the full range from 7 mm to 150mm or 210mm with the 1.4xTC (that's 14-300 or 420mm in 35mm field of view).
Oh, there's a lot more I could say about why I will not give up this camera and the lenses, but it will take too long!

OM-D E-M1 with 12-40mm PRO, 40-150mm PRO, 4/3-to-m4/3 adapter (although I rarely use that now), 1.4xTC.

No. Been shooting with the same brand since 1982. No reason to switch now.
