Sure wish I could have gotten a good picture of the train running eastbound but it just didn't work out for me. Still, we had a lot of fun listening for the thunder on the tracks and the whistle. But, because of the curve at each end of the tracks, the trains could sneak up on you mighty fast--as you can see on the ONLY eastbound train that I did capture.

The trains with the included track are great. The Rockies in the background make for very majestic looking photos. The ominous looking clouds in most shots also add to the majesty of the photos. This is a very nice set of photos. Must have been a great 'vacation!'

Best Regards,
Tom

Tom, what I'd give to head off for new horizons more often--the physical activity amidst such beautiful surroundings and the sense of adventure is food for the soul! It was a great vacation and I'm so glad to have others go along on the trip with me. Glad you enjoyed hopping on board!

These are excellent images and love the stormy weather in the shots. Enjoying the images from your trip - so much so, that I'm thinking of new travel plans.

John, why not make the trip? When I went 10 years ago I never thought I'd get to return but, with it in my heart to go back, I found a way to make it happen. Having found a friend that enjoys the fun of photography to share the trip was my prayer answered--that was the missing piece of the puzzle for me.
I'm just so glad we can all enjoy seeing the places we long to go through the photo shares of other folks here on UHH.

#1 is really nice I love the fact that you got both engines in the pic with out cutting them off or getting a part of the next train. Good shots

Super!! If you go to the Canadian Rockies, concentrate on Lake Louise and Jasper. Banff had the least to offer for us and is terribly congested. The Bow Valley Parkway, which was rich in wildlife 10 years ago, offered nothing in July this time...only an eagle and the Ospreys. (I suspect tourism has pushed the big game further back.) A side trip over to Revelstoke and Meadows in the Sky has much to offer although we didn't go there this trip due to time restraints.

For this subject and location I had the camera set on continuous so I could capture more nuances in position/composition. Glad that you noticed, Lenny!!

I appreciate that, blacks2--especially since you've been there yourself. I hope you'll catch the other train location I photographed up in Jasper (I'll go post it this morning)--the location was especially photogenic and I'd love to hear which you like bettter.
