MT, I had the optech and purchased the Rapid Strap, threw away my Optech and now will only use Rapid. I am not sure if you have used both? but no comparison.

Actually I have. Returned the BR and now have 4 OpTechs.

I prefer the OpTech. One, I keep a plate on the bottom of my grip and two, the idea of only a screw between me and my camera would make me uneasy.

The Strap of the Optech marred my live view on the back of my sony. Further the strap was usually in the way. The Rapid 7 works wonderfully. The Screw of course must be checked when you use the Camera for sure. That is why there is both Chocolate and Vanilla :)

I have a Black Rapid and it's a great strap. You can use it on either shoulder. Now back to trying to figure out my left handed fork.....

I use both the Black Rapid RS-4 single and DR-1 dual camera straps. The single works on the left or right shoulder. The sliding action is great, comes with a limiting buckle to keep the camera from sliding on the strap when walking or bending. If a flash is on camera, adjust the strap so that the flash does not hit the ground when knelling.

On the DR-1 double strap, the limiting buckle prevents the two bodies from sliding forward and crashing into each other. Yep, it happened twice before I realized the limiting buckles are important. Luckily, I had Giottos solid glass LCD protectors installed. The protector cracked, but the LCDs were not.

Look at the OpTech system, its universal, extremely well made in the USA, and a LOT less expensive than BR.

Sure. I am 6'5" and 280#. I have 3 of the OpTech Pro Loop Straps, and I use their extension straps on all of them. I also have their Double Sling for carrying 2 bodies at once, very comfortably even with long zoom lenses. I routinely carry a 70-200mm F2.8 on a D90 as well as a Sigma 150-500mm on a D7000 at the same time with this rig.
Nice thing about the OpTech products is that everything is totally interchangeable. I can remove the slings from the Double Sling and attach them to the Pro Loop Strap pad and have 2 seperate Sling type straps if I want them. I Bought my first OpTech Pro Strap in 1982 when they first went into business and still use it today, never a problem with ANY of their gear. Plus if you have any questions there are real people answering the phones at their factory. And if you stop in, they give you a 20% cash discount on all their products. I have never seen a company run by nicer people. I even requested a custom piece for my Double Sling and they made it and sent it to me for free! Show me anyone else that will do that!
Good luck.

And I USE my gear too, it doesn't just sit around gathering dust:

Sometimes you just need 3 bodies too! LOL

My wife and I both have Sun Sniper straps. I wear mine over the left shoulder and she uses hers over the right. The only complaint we had with them were the heavy duty shoulder pads. We've both removed them.

I have em all. The OpTech sling is light duty and not heavy enough for my camera lens combo. The OpTech neck straps feel a lot better than the Canon and Nikon straps and they are very secure on the camera. I especially like the Pro Loops. But, of the two OpTechs that I have, the neoprene is separating on one of them. I use it for my binoculars now. I really didn't like neck straps (they hurt my neck), so I bought a Black Rapid Sports strap sling style. They are awesome. I'm going to buy the Double Strap as soon as I can save 129 Washingtons. If I had it to do all over I'd buy this first, because the double can be used as a double, or two singles.

I bought one on Ebay for about $36.00. that holds two cameras, one on each side. So you could of course them put your camera on wither side. I always go out with 2 cameras mounted with lenses. Best Bang for the buck I've spent in a long time.

You fellows should check out the Carry speed CS pro web site .... I have friends with most of those straps mentioned .... and the Carry Speed is by far the better product ... it is rated to hold 35lbs and it does not have a flimsy tripod mount screw .... also ... you don't have to remove the rig to use a tripod......
