Black Rapid Camera Strap

I read about these in another thread, and they look like something I'd be interested in. However, as I read about them, I find that they only work over the left shoulder, which puts the camera on the right hip. I am left handed and would like it on the other side.

Is there a comparable strap that is either adaptable or specially made for left handers?

Most of the Black Rapid straps can be worn either way. I have one and can switch sides as needed.

Look at the OpTech system, its universal, extremely well made in the USA, and a LOT less expensive than BR.

AND they're really nice people.

Even so, the two are somewhat different (we have both), and so, even though I heartily second your recommendation, what suits one person won't always suit another.

Cheers,

R.

Absolutely true, its all a matter of personal preference.
I saw a photographer about 4 days ago with the Cotton Carrier chest mount, he was bragging about how comfortable it was to wear. 10 minutes later he stooped down to pick up a lens cap he dropped and when he did so his Canon 5D M2 and 100-400mm L lens came in contact with his thigh, this pushed the camera out of the mount, he grabbed for it and sent it flying when he missed, and both hit the pavement, in several pieces! A hard lesson learned for him. You have to KNOW the gear you are using.

I use the Black Rapid all the time on Mountain Hikes. It works as advertised. You must spend time adjusting it to fit you and your shooting style. They have several videos you can watch that explain the adjustments and usage.

I have the BR strap but have also been giving this one a go lately. http://www.customslr.com/ If interested use CSLRKY when you checkout.

I,like MtShooter, use the OpTech, you can use the strap over either shoulder, and it leaves your tripod mount open. Also comes with two quick release buckles, which makes switching to a backup camera a snap. (pun intended)

You are suppose to twist and lock when using CC and you cant get your camera out accidently at all, as you said know your gear

The Optech is not in the same league as the Rapid Strap. In Fact they are being sued for patent infringement.
