Gig I think you just took some abuse and it doesn't matter at all, post your photos how you like them and it'll be your style. Even some of the purest here get bored and shake things up by doing it different from time to time. It's all good and I enjoy it daily. Put in what kind of pp that you did to get the desired effect. I saw a portrait a few days ago here, black background with some white outline that I thought was fantastic. I don't know how he did it but I still think about it days later. Looking forward to seeing your stuff.

I think you will find some of my stuff on the second page of the photo gallery. Thanks

Welcome to UHH, where feathers get ruffled all the time. If you want to see some crazy stuff, visit the Attic here on UHH. I have only been there a couple of times, that was enough for me! It took me a little while to get used to the bickering here on the HOG, but now I just ignore it.

Well, I just about to ignore all those negative comments. In another five minutes or so.

After reading many comments on enhancing or not enhancing pictures I have come to the conclusion that camera makers need not improve new cameras in the market since even the cheap cameras after going through computer software would look as good as an expensive camera.with the art of software to improve your pictures the art and skill taking an original picture will be gone.

I prefer to think I might have something to do with the resultsÂ… good, bad, indifferent. Perhaps, I'm naive in that thought.

That comment is unfounded. I find nothing to support it. No camera shoots by itself. No camera climbs a cliff to change the perspective, nor does it automatically get up at 3 AM drives and hikes to a specific location to shoot a spectacular sunset. And no software can make those same choices or decisions either, but if you care to believe it, you welcome to it.

You're doing just fine, gig. You've only been here awhile and already have sense enough to know in which section to post your pictures! I also suggest you check some of the other sections where pictures are posted - you may rethink your initial comment.

I don't think you are "seeing". There are many different sections to the forum, macro, people, sports, etc. You can subscribe to any of the sections you want to.
Suggest you go see the work produced by some to these very good photographers.

I think it says much about you. First you misspelled, then corrected and put in another word which was also wrong. You apparently do not know how to use a spell check, you don't check before you post and when you do, you still manage to select incorrectly. Let me surmise, you have this same problem with just about anything you do. You don't check, verify or authenticate.

As for the disagreement, I would like you to explain for what do we disagree? I am very clear you are no photographer and you have yet to produce anything to change that.

I don't shoot RAW and I am pathetic at post processing but, I do do a little on most my photo's. I would venture that the majority of poster's here do PP and are from fair to super with it. I would probably do more if I could figure out how to use those program's. Until that time I'll just assume that people that do so much are simply bad photographer's that need all the help they can get! LOL

Gig, I've had several posts about "beyond basics"!
They didn't have anything to do with PP as such, but were to make those that were unaware, aware of the fact that the language and use of composition goes way beyond the basics.
No matter how good your PP is, it won't make a crappy shot better. It's still, ALL about the composition.
You might want to click on my name and then my list and check those out. They also do have in them as examples of the prescribed compositional topic, some of the better images that you will see here.
You are probably way more advanced than anything I can present but there may be others here that are new here that can benefit from that info. Don't be afraid to add to the various posts and bring them back around for others that may be new here to participate in as well! ;-)

You say that about anyone who disagrees with you, even though many if not most of them make better photographs than you...
