any one else afflicted by this poison of choice ?
No, I understand you but I am not very found of 28 mm lenses. I like wider, have 14 and 24 mm and would like to have something around 20 also.

I have half of my lenses are prime: 35mm; 50mm; 100mm; 135mm; 300mm. I love prime lens for it's super IQ, I would love to have a 20mm in the future, or may be a fish-eye but not wider than 16mm.
My favorite would be something in the 40-45mm range, a focal length that I found to be highly useful for general photography (travel, street, nature, floral and architectural purposes) during the era of film cameras. Certainly better than 28mm and a somewhat better than 35mm.

So are you using FX or Dx? That is the question. That is what puts it into perspective.

My favourite focal length is the one that gives the field of view I want for the subject at hand, regardless of what format camera I'm using.
In the film days all but one lens were prime lens I still have them all and from time to time I still shoot film. The one exception is the 75-210mm FD push/pull lens. Now with digital SLR's on a FF I like 24mm prime meet all my needs!

Not so much an addiction, but I found myself getting lazy using a zoom lens, using the zoom to crop and compose, so about a year ago I started using my 50mm f/1.4 for walk around/general photography to get back to photographing what I want, not what the lens gives me. I have recently gone back to using my 24-120mm f/4 lens as my walk around lens, but I keep my 50mm with me and I'll go back to it if I start getting lazy again.
ok, perhaps addiction is a bit of a strong wording maybe cornflake syndrome is a better representation. i sometimes try to add some variety in to my choice of breakfast cereals but find i keep going back to cornflakes :)

Guilty! Either 28 or 35 (full frame equivalent). Even with my μ4/3 camera (crop factor 2.0) and a 14-42 (~28-85) zoom, I shoot 75-90% at 14 (28mm).

From my film days I shot mostly with a 50mm, 28mm, or 100mm prime. Earlier, when I was say borrowing a film camera I used a 35mm or 50mm a lot. Today I also own a 19mm "film" prime but I have only used it once for film. For APS-C (DX / FC) DSLRs I shoot with any of 19mm, 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 100mm, 135mm prime lenses, plus a number of Zooms and other lenses. I still need a really wide "digital" lens, say 10-14mm prime or zoom, and a long "digital" tele-zoom of say 70 - 300mm or 100 - 400mm or something similar.
But per your original question, yes, I like 28mm or 35mm too.

For me, hands down, 24mm lens. Cannot wait for the new 24mm f1.8 Nikon. I still own a Nikon 24mm f2.0 AIS manual focus lens. My all time favorite lens.
35mm 1.4 is my walk around lens.
