Sounds fishy to me also?

I will be glad to make a "serious offer" to buy whenever I see a
"serious offer" to sell a desirable item. By the way, aren't you the Microsoft executive from Mumbai who called to warn me of serious problems with my computer and "seriously offered" me expensive steps to cure them?
Lotsa luck, my friend.
I think you might be looking for StupidHedgehog.com. I was interested until I saw your location.

What makes you folk suspect a scam? When I look at his history he seems a good contributor.

I can't speak for others. I am not at all sure that this is a scam.
However when a seller is in hiding and he has three awesome Nikon's that are nearly all close to the most recent models in their class which would make them recent purchases and he attempts to sell them with no lens's and no other gear of any kind, then I have suspision enough to fear forking over a large sum of money.
Why did he buy all three if he has health problems?
Why is he in hiding?
Why is he waiting for ten days for a check to clear before sending it out?
He may be fine, but it just sounds too good to be true and my instincts are telling me to steer clear. It's not worth the risk to me.
I don't see a "smoking gun" and he can easily have an excuse for all of these. It's the totality of it all together for me.

What he said, plus it's interesting that the seller has stayed quiet for over five days. I admit that we may have jumped to a conclusion on slim cause; however, as noted above, the deal called for caution.
There are two rules of buying that I try to keep in mind: caveat emptor; If something is too good to be true, it probably isn't. The sale in question pushed both buttons.
