No matter how unpleasant, it's a part of our history that should not be forgotten. That would be like Germany forgetting the Nazi reign and all the harm and atrocities involved. Events of the past are part of a country's history and should not be erased.

It serves as a reminder as to how to behave. We do not live in a utopia or on a golf course. Life can be very bitter but can also be extremely sweet. Good and bad exist side by side.

The war in the Mid East will never end. First ... They are all tribal over there.
Second ... Weather it is , geographical, political, economical, or racial, you can eventually get both sides to come around. Throw religion into the scenario and everything is out the window.

Interesting. From what I understand, the Civil War wasn't just about slavery, but mostly about states wanting to cede from the United States of America and form their own states. The purpose of the Civil War was to keep our country united. Not to divide it.

How can one expect for it to stop when they teach hate from the cradle? And that includes their religion.

You are exactly correct and many think it is about slavery. Lincoln himself said he wanted to bring the south back into the states and that was his purpose. Read in on the walls of the Lincoln Memorial. In fact after the was was over and the south had lost Lincoln did not imprison anyone and let them go home honorably. They had suffered enough.

Slavery was the reason the Missouri Compromise of 1820 came about. The slave/anti slave States were evenly divided with 11 each. Missouri wanted to join the Union as a slave State but was not allowed in because it would give pro slave States the voting majority. About the same time Maine wanted to join as an slavery State. That would keep it in the balance.

The Confederate Flag stands also for STATES RIGHTS which are being destroyed by the Federal government!! Illegal immigration is being tolerated by the feds, and they are trying to keep the states from ENFORCING THE CURRENT IMMIGRATION LAWS!!!

Long live the STATES RIGHTS sentiments of the true southerners!

You are the first person I have seen speak of the true root cause of the Civil War. Slavery was a side issue, not the main issue the libs would have us think. If the people protesting the Confederate flag actually understood history we would see it flying in more places today.

If seems odd that no one wants to give our country credit for ending an institution as old as civilization while extolling the virtues of Dubai that was built with slave labor.

Ignorant...hummmmmm anyone who makes an ignorant statement like the above Obviously voted for Obama and obviously have absolutely no complaints with the lies and illegal things he has done..... I constantly stand amazed at the Obama Lovers contingent who can NEVER EVER have anything to say "Negative" about him and his obvious serious problems yet have no problem with going back years and years to find a problem with Bush or Reagan.....

At what point in time does President Obama have to quit screwing up and blaming Bush for it.... He had better hurry as his term is running out.... Then who ever is president can Blame him for the horrible conditions of the world....

And I would wager that you will vote for Hilllary if she makes it to the Game...(which is looking more dim lately).... and then cheer her on when she blames Obama for all her problems...

When you have something intelligent to say, then you can tell me and others to keep our opinions to ourselves...

Ignorant...hummmmmm anyone who makes an ignorant s... (show quote)

Mike, When reading a idiotic comment such as YoungEsqr posted, I believe the first action is to 'consider the source'. His online name starting with 'young' implies to me that he did not experience the four years of the Carter fiasco, nor the Regan efforts to bring the country out of the sorry state of the country and economy during Carter's term. If he did experience them, it was probably as a child who didn't suffer the raging inflation, 20% interest, the national embarrassment or the 454(?) days of the Iranian captive fiasco, etc.

He has swallowed the hook of the progressives who believe the dis-functional social engineering programs work and allowed Harry Reid to jam up the Senate so little good got done. The problem is they don't think through their proposals, and they vote. God save us from another period like the last six years; we could have another 14 Trillion dollars added to the debt. A twenty eight trillion dollar debt would be unmanageable, even if the economy was roaring along.
