I have topaz and all the other ones you can see listed. ALL worked perfectly.

Mine didn't. Only Topaz. And therein lies the problem: sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. Which is why Adobe says not to do it, to contact the manufacturer of the plug-in for appropriate instructions. Of course, people like you and me have to try it just to see........

I agree. I just upgraded to the latest cc and now I can't find my perfect suites, nik software, topaz filters etc. This is a pain in the neck and I am reluctant to upgrade again the next time it is offered. I am spending too much time adding my plug ins again. I wish Adobe would get with the program.

...all major updates (not the incremental kind like, 6.1 to 6.2) require that you reinstall your plugins and added software. I just had to do the same thing...yes, pain, but the more you do it, less trouble it becomes as time marches on...

The CC idea is ok with me and affordable, but they need to get it right before they force their upgrades on us. Sheesh, now I can't see any of my apps and I can't get any updates. I've spent the last two hours trying to find a solution. I'm no dummy on computers but changing things on a system level shouldn't be required to install an app. Maybe a little more time in Beta??

Their support is horrendous, and they really don't care. Take it or leave it. Sometimes I wish enough of us stood our ground and quit paying for an inferior product, Then they would be forced to get it right to re-earn their market share.

I guess the best bet is to go with a stand alone program anymore. Maybe one day they'll actually get it right. Don't get me wrong, I love the programs, it just seems a hurried effort to improve things they sometimes make them worse for the end user.

Rant over, I feel better already

Totally agree. Adobe management needs a good whipping.

Thanks to this forum, my "rant" has ended by learning that I'm not alone with the problems with CC and Adobe. The information I've read since joining the forum has really helped me understand better much of the problem with CC programs, and now I don't feel so isolated with my PS/LR short comings. Thanks.

You do realize just how many companies and plug-ins are out there in the world...........

Indeed I do, and each one is specifically coded to work in the PS plug on environment, so where is the problem in writing a bit of code to migrate them across? It would be a simple matter of telling the installer to find them in the folder of the earlier version and bring them into the plugin folder of the newer version, and write a few registry keys perhaps. They are just lazy.

They clearly do not strive for backward compatibility, and that is not necessarily a bad thing. That is probably why they do not automatically reinstall plugins--they change the environment and some might not work, so they leave it to plugin vendors and customers to sort it out.

But while Adobe is improving their product with new technology, so are the plug-in manufacturers. I think it would be extremely difficult for Adobe to keep up with all the third parties. Seems like they have enough on their own plate already.

Kind of like what one of the car manufacturers said many years ago about backward compatibility. At some point Ford has to quit supporting the 1909 Model T and let third parties sort it out.

Actually maybe you're not a coder, but the fact is that many "computer problems" can be traced back to bad coding, and Adobe is notorious for that. It looks all spic and span and shiny on the outside, but open the hood and it's a nightmare. Adobe Flash is infamous for some of the worst implementation on the planet, such that Steve Jobs refused to run it entirely and just recently it has been blocked by both Chrome and Firefox.

I've always felt that PS had a great user interface and very well-thought-out features, but underneath that the story might be different. My brother is a software/hardware engineer and he says that Adobe is one of the worst.

As far as Flash and Firefox go, I'm looking at Firefox now and it says Flash is blocked because my version is outdated, not because Flash is defective. You are right about about Jobs and Flash.

HP pavilion, windows 8.1, 2tb HD WITH 2tb external HD.. When it goes to update I get a screen that says cannot connect to Adobe, check my connection and firewall. Of coarse I did. Also launching the CC App I have no access to my apps. PS and LR both still work on my computer but I can't update or launch anything fron Cc App. It's a known issue, it's all over the web with remedy solutions.

I have a similar problem. Adobe cc has an update, when I try to update across comes the message "cannot upload" .after three times trying I have given up. CC2015 working fine as it is

have CC on two HP Computers running Windows 8.1 and have had no issues using it or updating. Updated from CC 2014 to CC2015 without any issues.

Hmmmm...took me less than a minute to get my plug-ins into the latest version. Drag and drop or copy and paste.

UPDATE: Had a popup this morning that an update for CC2015 was ready to download and install to fix any issues with Windows 10. Update was quick and I encountered no problems with it.
