Actually I am unhappy only when I camp! I am too old to camp and prefer B&Bs by a long shot to anything else, including staying with family or friends.

As to be ornery? Yup.
Unhappy in general? Nope.

I am exactly where I am supposed to be.

Yes, and very much alone ... it is your preference... so why are you here?

That is a pretty childish comment. I have seen what you have posted. I am not sure you can make that challenge. Is the pot calling the kettle black?

It's pretty surprising that Nikon singled you out for poor treatment. I have never had any problem with them.

Nor I. They've done well for me for more than 40 years.

I've purchased a ton 'o refurbished Nikon cameras and gear from nikonusa.com, and have never had a problem with them. The merchandise arrives quickly and always in excellent condition (although the gold lettering and markings on a 24-70mm f/2.8 seem a little too bronze-colored, but after saving over $550 versus a new one, how can I complain?) and post-purchase customer support is superb. Clearly a first-class operation.

The only problem I have experienced with Nikon lenses is that the prime 1.4's are too expensive.

The only people who have a problem with Nikon seem to be those shooting with Canon. That is totally understandable. If you have a Canon, you have my sympathy.

Hard topic to relate to for Canon shooters. We just call customer service and say "I'd like to make a return."

What's Nikon's reason for kissing you off?

Bought a refurbished lens from Nikon (35mm) and the quality
of photos were no better than the 18-105 kit lens that came with
the camera. Called Nikon to return it and they said if I opened the
box I owned the lens. Only could return if the lens was defective
and I would need a return authorization number.
I told them it was false advertising to tell people it took such great photos
or the lens was defective.
I called their bluff and sent it back anyway!
Told them I was finished with Nikon and I would buy from
others in the future like Fuji, Sony, Olympus, and Canon.
(They all make as good or if not better cameras as Nikon!)
Two weeks later got full refund.
My motto: Never take a no from someone who can
never give you a yes on anything!

This is only one of a few reasons why I do Not buy Refurbished. I bought a refurbished Nikon FM for my son (before digital came around) and not too long after the 90 day warranty expired, the shutter died. I was told it would be too expensive to repair it. For that reason, I do not trust refurbs.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but to hear one make such bold negative statements in such a strong way as you are is subject to challange. I have bought more than $80k worth of Nikon gear for the past several years and have numerous colleagues who have spent several thousands on their own gear and have never had a problem with any of my gear, but perhaps I am buying pro gear and not amateur gear, so I can't speak for that.
I am surprised you had such a bad experience with Nikon as they have always been great with me if I ever had any issues, but Im sure you will eventually have the same problems with Sony or Canon in due time based on your complaints.

The best way to respond to that is to let me see exactly what and why the pictures are not of quality?
I too would like to see examples of images of what the problem could be and not that of a personal opinion while slamming a company. Ive have seen way too many issues with photographers out there who think they know what they are doing, only to find out they don't even know how to use their own gear, so the blame goes elsewhere instead of themselves. So, seeing examples will tell us a lot more about the problems instead of hearing someone bitch about why a company sucks. Theres always two sides of an argument, so its wise to know if it is not user error and not just the gear.
