Looks like a pretty good deal to me. I have a D80 which is now a back up for my new D700 and I love them both. I had to get the D700 for my son's Friday night football games.

I have shot many great pictures with the d80 i have owned for about 5+ years. Always dependable and ready to go. I recentely purchased a d300s and love that one also. I always keep my d80 with me when I am shooting some pics with d300 and don't have switch lenes just cameras Go For It!

An unused D80 sound like a 2006 Cadillac that's never been driven. If you can take some shots with it, you can check the shutter count.
Shutter Count

* Get Irfanview (free) and also get the plug-ins for it. Start the program, open a photo, click on Image > Information > Exif info.
* Get ExifInfo - also free. Unzip and get the icon onto the Desktop. Find a photo and drag it onto the icon. A window will open with loads of info. Look down the list for Shutter Count (or whatever they call it).

I've had a D80 for several years and loved it.
It recently malfunctioned and I upgraded to a D7000 but
I plan to repair the D80 and keep it as a second camera.
It was very easy to use.

I own 2 Nikon D80's for years now. Both are work horses for me. The lens selection should also work well for you.

I too have a D80 and use it with my D90 so I don't have to change lenses. Once a long time ago I Changed lenses so I could take advantage of the D lighting on the D 90. You will like it. The other thing is it has a motor so you can use a lot more lenses in auto focus than you could with the new lower end Nikons. For that reason alone I would take it over a D5100. - Dave
