I have had mine since I bought it from Cameta last August and I love it. It gives me incredible images no matter what and, like others have stated here, I am still learning things it can do after nearly a year. It is a very powerful tool but the best feature for me is that most of the controls are in the same place as the ones on my D80. This made the learning curve a bit less steep. As far as I am concerned, I see no need to move up to a D810, and for me to switch to a D7100 seems like a step backwards. The D610 is a great camera and I see no need to use anything else.

I have one of the D600's that had the oil issue. Nikon promptly took care of the issue and it has been a wonderful camera. I also have a D800 and often prefer the D600 as a walk around camera as it is lighter. Excellent image quality. I can only assume the D610 is better yet.

Good question. I bet it has something to do with the number sold and the number of owners who are members here. The D7000 series has been around for a long time, but the D610 is a relative newcomer, having been introduced mainly to replaced the ailing D600. With the introduction of the D750, some potential D610 buyers probably bought that instead.

Its a very good camera and probably a best buy currently.

Indeed. I had a D600 and had the "spots problem". After sending it to Nikon several times for cleaning they replaced with a D610. The 600 was a great camera with one problem. The D610 fixed that problem and so far as I'm concerned is a steal at its current price. ;)

My Christmas present was a Nikon 610. Prior I had a D90. I really like the 610. It suits all my needs. I have found no limitations to the kind of pictures I want to take.
Based on my use of the camera it is a very good camera.

My D600 was a fine camera, except for. . .

Now running around with Nikon's replacement D610, and am very happy with it.

About a week ago I bought a Nikon D610. It is my first digital camera.
I reviewed on line many of its features and I downloaded the instructions to a CD to read during my spare time and get acquainted with its functions. I read lots of information before the camera reached my hands.
I ordered the camera when I compared it to the D750, a much better camera but the D610 had all the features I needed in my photography and it was in my humble opinion a waste to spend more money.
I began to test the camera around my neighborhood using JPEG and RAW files, both large files due to the 24 megapixels. AF in my tests worked to perfection even in low light, the contrary of the many reports in the Internet. The files are full of beautiful colors (Standard Picture Control) and details even with my old non CPU lenses. Ergonomics are exactly like those in my D7000 and many of the features are shared by both cameras like the AF system which for me is more than enough.
My RRS L-shape clamp that I use with the D7000 fits to perfection the D610.
I am very satisfied with the new camera although I admit I do not know all I need to know about it yet.
Here are a couple of shots I made while testing it. The flower was shot using a 1973 manual focus 80-200 f4.5 with a Nikon 3T diopter filter to make the camera focus closer mounted on a cheap Dolica tripod with a Linhof ballhead. If memory does not fail the concrete fence was shot with an AIS 35mm f2 manual lens. Please, notice these are shots made with the purpose of testing the camera only. I will make better shots as soon as I am comfortable enough using it.
My initial comments are that it is a very good camera that should satisfied amateur users and even professionals.

I also have the D610 and love it. Yes, it is a great camera but seems to be billed as a fix to the D600. Then, when the D750 came out with a few more goodies for (at present) $500 more, it and the D810 are getting all of the attention. All are great cameras.

Sorry, it is more than $500 or I would have gone for the D750.

I own one and since acquiring it, I have not used my D7000 too much. The D610 does everything I need I need it to do, and I probably could do a lot more with it. I was considering the D750 when it came out, but after an exchange of messages here with MTShooter and his suggestion, I concluded the D610 was right for me. I value the opinions of those far more experienced than me and MTShooter is definitely in that camp. Today, Nikon has all of their refurbished stock on sale at 10% off, so if any readers are in the market for great gear, now is the time to take advantage of the sale.

Did you try "search"?

Not as many threads as other models buy plenty of info there. :)

I ordered one of the first D-600's. Nikon replaced it with a D-610 because of the oil spots. It is indeed a great camera. I found that the D-610 had a bit of a problem focusing in low light. A few weeks ago I ordered a D-750 because of the ability to focus better in low light and the articulating screen. Still learning about the D-750.

I just sold my Nikon 610 on Ebay and the new owner is very happy with it. I never had any problems with mine- consistent reliable performance.

One more positive vote as a satisfied owner of a D610. I agree with others who posted that the intro. Of the d750 probably hurt sales. Now
At its reduced price it's a great buy!

The Technical Image Press Association (an international organization) has just announced in Shutterbug Magazine the results of the best photography gear of the year. In the professional category, the D810 won over many other great cameras. Your 610 is very similar, only fewer features.
Be happy!

I think the only thing that can sway guys to go for the D750, is the superior autofocus and superior video performance.

Sensor wise.. they seem very alike.

I've got a D750 (bought new) and a D610 (bought refurb'd from Nikon). The 750 has faster autofocus for action and low-light situations, the 610 has a slightly quieter shutter, but the differences rarely matter. They're both excellent, high-performance, almost perfectly compatible cameras. Layout of controls and ergonomics are nearly identical, and they use the same battery.

Oh...And they're both saddled with Nikon's proprietary NEF software, instead of straightforward RAW, which imho is one of the most inconsiderate things Nikon has ever done to its loyal, professional customers.
