Normally there would be literally hundreds of suggestions for photo ops along a cross country route. However, given that you're going to do a 3,120 mile trip in only 5 days (that's 45 hours total driving time sticking just to the interstate highways; or 9 hours and 625 miles daily, not including meal and potty breaks, and no traffic/construction delays) the reality is that fitting in more than one or two fairly short photo stops will be pretty difficult. Truthfully, your best bet is to just follow your road atlas and watch for good roads that jump off onto and which roughly parallel the interstate in areas where you find the lay of the land interesting. Good photos don't have to come from well known, frequently sought out locations. (Example: when you get to Spokane, WA you can detour south for 30 minutes and drive a few of the farm roads in the Palouse. Tons of great rural farmland of rolling hills, barns and grain silos). Short side drives of this type may give you what you want, while not eating up great amounts of time. And as great as many of the National Parks and well known attractions might be, most demand spending significant time there to appreciate them, especially if photography is your goal. Better to avoid places like Yellowstone, Glacier, etc. altogether than to try to go there and be frustrated by only having two hours to devote to such magnificent locations. Better to save places like that for another day when you can give them the attention they deserve. So, relax, be safe, and enjoy what you find you can fit in along the way.

Driving from New Hampshire to Seattle Washington, any suggestions on some sight seein? Only have 5days, so not much time to detour.

You are going to be driving 500 miles a day. That's about 10 or 12 hours each day. My advice. forget about the camera on the trip. I hope you are not doing this alone. BE SAFE. Another suggestion- stop every 2 hours or so and take a 5 or 10 walk. Sitting in a car for long trips is very bad for the circulation in the lower extremities (legs). BE SAFE

Unfortunately given your time frame I have to agree. A short side trip to Mammoth in Yellowstone off of 90 will take half a day. The more interesting approach over Beartooth Pass will take most of a day. And you would only see about 5% of Yellowstone. Plus the entry fee is now $30.

Thanks to EVERYONE who posted, we didn't stop anywhere, to get pics. A friend and I did it in two and a half days. Straight shot. Took the lower route. Had to stop in Salt Lake City. Then up to Portland Or. Then straight up north home. Had a safe trip. No photos unfortunately. Just gives us another excuse to do it again. Thanks Again.

Ah yes!
Another trip. That's exactly what I will have to do in the Glacier Nat'l Park and Canadian Rockies. Went through it very fast with a group that WAS NOT interested in photography!

Totally understand that one, went to Carlsbad recently, ONLY spent about 6hrs in there and was only there for ONE day. Didn't even see the bat flight. Nontogs or non photographers are hard to vacay(vacation) or road trip with.
