I am going to Las Vegas the end of July. I have the following lenses available to me, I am trying to take only 1: 24-105L, 70-300L, Sigma 18-250. I am shooting with a Canon 7D MK II. I haven't been since '97. Thanks or your help.

Make it still another vote for the 18-250. I love mine and it is rarely off my camera.

Let me the one exception here ...... I'd use the 24-105L. Better glass, probably lets you drop lower on the f/stop scale if it's needed. I doubt that you will be shooting long distance in Vegas. Even at 105mm, most of the buildings will be close enough to fill the frame.

I also agree with the 24-105L.

Thanks for all your help. Those who said that the 24-105L is better glass are right.

That was my initial reaction as well. But on the 7D II, the 24 is nearly a 40mm. You will want a wider angle for a lot ot the shots in LV. So the 18-250 gets my vote. Ideally it would be the 24-105 and pick up at 10-18 for shots of buildings. But if you "MUST" have only one lens, the 18-250.

Indoors or outdoors. Huge difference.

Mostly outdoors. The last time I was there '97, they frowned on taking pictures around the gambling machines/tables. With everyone having cell phones that take pictures, they may have moved away from that. I do get your point. thanks.

There are still restrictions on inside photography. Lots of people who visit Vegas are hiding from someone. Most importantly is the fact that you will find better lighting outside the buildings. You are going to experience a rare phenomena, too much "normal" light! You get to play with your CPL all the time. Be sure to take in the light show at the Bellagio (sp?). If you are super-lucky it will shower at night and everything becomes a reflection! Hope you have maximum fun with this. Please share your photographs with us. GL

Most of those hotel lobbies are worth taking pictures of.
