Oops...the word "ignorance" should be after the word photography in the first sentence.

Let me the one exception here ...... I'd use the 24-105L. Better glass, probably lets you drop lower on the f/stop scale if it's needed. I doubt that you will be shooting long distance in Vegas. Even at 105mm, most of the buildings will be close enough to fill the frame.

Spot on, but if it were me, I would take them all!

I am going to Las Vegas the end of July. I have the following lenses available to me, I am trying to take only 1: 24-105L, 70-300L, Sigma 18-250. I am shooting with a Canon 7D MK II. I haven't been since '97. Thanks or your help.

For me it would be the 18-250. That will cover almost everything.

That was my initial reaction as well. But on the 7D II, the 24 is nearly a 40mm. You will want a wider angle for a lot ot the shots in LV. So the 18-250 gets my vote. Ideally it would be the 24-105 and pick up at 10-18 for shots of buildings. But if you "MUST" have only one lens, the 18-250.

Okay, let me be odd man out. Take a Rokinon 8mm fisheye and get the fisheye-hemi software. You get either the circular fisheye or you PP through the software and get an amazing straightline wideangle.

I'm heading to Vegas for 2 weeks in September. I'm taking my Tokina 11-16 Ultra wide, the Sigma 18-250 and the Sigma 150-500. We are renting a car and driving up to the Grand Canyon and going on a tour of Hoover Damn. I figure I need all 3 lenses to cover all circumstances. I'm also taking my travel tripod for night shots on the strip.

I would say take all your lenses. I didn't on our California trip last year and regretted not having my big sig lens more than once.

That's what I used to do. After some experience, though, I found myself doing almost all my shooting of landscape with just one or two lenses. In fact, on one long road trip, I shipped back to my home about half of my gear for going unused.

This reply will demonstrate my photography. Why not take them all? Each has a purpose right? Who is to say, this is the type of photo you will take, therefore take this lens. Like the carpenter, you don't really know what you will be getting into, take all three. The last thing you want is to say, "I wish I had my xxxxx lens". You bought them, take 'em!
