Don't let it "slip" in between gears. Mostly you should only clutch at a stop. When you shift gears, learn to "powershift" The clutch will last forever if you do it right.

Ummm, sure if you are running a gearbox with "straight" cut gears. A normal gearbox will NOT last long being used in this way. I have used different types of gearboxes and have to say the following. A new clutch MUST be seated properly for it to work. I have used a drag box and the clutch was actually set up to slip a little under shifting.
LET the clutch seat before doing hard launches etc.

Well, the gearbox should last, but the synchromesh might suffer unless you know what you're doing...

There's no such thing as a break in period on a clutch.

Some high performance clutch manufacturers claim there is. They're using different compounds that need to be heated up a bit to seat so to speak. Common sense dictates that there are some differences in the chemical make up of clutch material that's designed to be used at greater RPM's and much higher temperatures for prolonged periods of time.

However, the break in period on a track will happen very quickly and will not need this 500 mile stop and go that's been described by the op.

Gime that sucker and I'll break it in, only take me a matter of minutes .... He Ha!

I think you should have had time to get the 500 miles in by now, Whatever you do, good luck, and have fun.
