Always a good idea to install the toolkit for the SSD brand/model you're using and update the firmware. I've had old firmware on SSD's result in SSD errors. I've also had SSD's fail within the first few months of use.

With the On One suite you have to download and reinstall, then find the On One plug in folder and copy /paste each of the plugins into the Photoshop 2015 plugin folder, the on one support site has some screenshots that illustrate. Be sure Photoshop is not open when you do this.

This is not correct. You don't have to reinstall On1, just copy all the folders and files to their new locations.

In your old PS Plug-ins folder you will have a set of on1 PerfectXXXXX folders - copy them to the new plug-ins folder in PS CC 2015.

There will also be the following in the main Photoshop 2015 folder:

ONCore9.dll
ONCoreFoundation9.dll
ONDocument9.dll
ONProxySupport9.dll

If you get an error "missing msvcp120.dll" then copy that and msvcr120.dll to the main Photoshop 2015 folder.

This is not correct. You don't have to reinstall O... (show quote)

Just following the instructions from On One, which had everything working in about 3 minutes. I'm sure the way you describe would work too.

I am surprised they made you reinstall things. I've done this 3 times, from CS6 to CC, from CC to CC 2014, and just yesterday. Hmm . . .

I do apologize for my ignorance on this one. :) You were NOT wrong.

I done the same as you Gene51. Copy & pasted from 2014 plug-ins to 2015 plug-ins and have had no problems.

I did have one tiny hiccup - I could no longer right click on a file in Windows Explorer and select Photoshop as a program to open it with. AFter scratching my head for a bit I went into the registry and found this key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\open\command\
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Photoshop.exe" %1"

It was set to open with Adobe Photoshop CC 2014. Since the installation removed the older version, and did not set the key to the new version, not only could I not right click and select PS, but it would not accept my attempts to manually associate jpeg files with the new Photoshop. Changing 2014 to 2015 fixed it.

Please excuse my ignorance but how do I go to a folder in CC 2014 when it has been uninstalled?

Did you look to see if the folder is still there?

Or are you assuming that the uninstall process took everything out?

It should still be there.

Thanks for your input Gene but I have just reinstalled Perfect effects and that was very quick and easy and now the plugins are there in Lightroom and Photoshop, an easy fix .

Hope so . It was a stressful day altogether yesterday as our new SSD decided to almost pack in and I had to get our techie guy in to change it under warranty. He brought a 250 instead of a 500 gig one but put it in as a temporary fix and will get a 500 gig after we return from our trip to Europe which we start tomorrow. As I said we could have done without all this hassle at this time but not to worry , we have a great trip planned and really looking forward to it.
