I love the green. I carve hummingbirds out of tupelo gum, burn the feathers with a detail burner and paint with thin washes of oil paint. The hummingbird is one of the birds I love to carve and paint.
I got one, he was very hungry from all that humming.
Anna's hummingbirds are year-round residents at my place.
Great pix!! Up here in Wisconsin no hummers yet, although last wk-end we were sitting on the deck and I swear to God I was buzzed by one. The sound they make is unmistakeable. My girlfriend heard it also. She was so happy, she brewed up a batch of food for the critters. We've had an unusally warm spring this year (30 or so degrees warmer than the normal) and I have my cameras ready and waiting for them to come back!!

They start showing up in North AL about the first or second week in April. This summer hummer wouldn't get out of the garage before dark so I hung a feeder in there. It was the end of June and I was taking a photo for a July contest of hummingbirds. Note that he is checking out the hole in my cap for food.
Your second shot is great. In the second shot you have attained the difficult task of significantly reducing the blur of their rapidly vibrating wings, yet retain the clarity of the body.
I am not sure they are here yet. We just cut down a big Oak tree and plans are to hang hummingbird feeders and plant for hummingbirds and butterlfies.

Some great shots of hummingbirds. Here is one that I shot yesterday. I think it may be a mutation. Lighting was not ideal so not real sharp
Great shots!!! Here in Brazil we have them all year long. They are very interesting.
