That is actually a gray fox which tend to have a little red mixed in the coat. Red's typically do not climb tree's because they belong to the canine familly, gray's belong to the feline group and climbing tree's is quite normal. None the less it is a wonderful picture, I believe god put you at right place at the right time and the capture is wonderful.

Gray foxes do NOT belong to the feline "group". They are definitely canine.
Check out http://georgiawildlife.com/node/1095 for information on both foxes including the fact that grays will climb trees and reds don't.

Actually, Gray's are canine (Canidae), just have an adaptive feature of being able to climb trees like felines.

That is unbelievable . I don't care how noiseless you thought you were
They can here you breathing . There is no way you could get that close
With out it hearing you . Have you seen them hunting mice in a field covered with snow up to there chin . Using there ears for locating the mouse . Which can not be heard even with fancy recording electronics
Made by man . It heard you coming from a hundred feet away or more,
For some reason it just didn't care . Where is the pictures of it getting up
Or did it .
