Goodbye David Letterman.
I get the impression that the original poster found Letterman's comedy entertaining as did millions of others that watched him through the years...and, it's perfectly fine that you do or do not....but what I find to be "weird" is how some people are so intolerant of his brand of humor and the fact that some may enjoy it....just because those intolerant individuals don't like what they perceive to be his political inclinations.....now to me, that intolerance is "weird"....
Well, are you "intolerant" of those with whom you disagree ? We all are to varying degrees. You have already admitted to being this way of "extremists". Yet you denigrate those who feel that Letterman was an extremist for his views. Yes, the OP did, but does that mean everyone did ? What makes one opinion and the way it's expressed "right" & the other "wrong". "Good for the Goose but not for the Gander "? Remember , we have freedom of speech in this country. That doesn't mean only speech which one agrees with.

Of course we have free speech in our country and thankfully so....and to the contrary, I am not "denigrating" anyone...I just find it sad that in a world with so much evil and suffering [and intolerance] that there are those that jump on something so harmless as Letterman's' brand of comedy. Rather than denigrating those, I truly feel sorry for them and am thankful that I worry more about what is going on in Syria or the Ukraine or Iraq or Washington or the health of my 88 year old mother....or other things that are so much more important and impactful, at least to me. Others are welcome to feel differently for sure...am I am free to pity them....

Thank goodness he is gone.

Isn't it a sad and pathetic thing that a member makes a perfectly reasonable comment about a tv show and some respond in such a negative, obnoxious manner. Please....live and let live a bit...I feel sorry for those that wake up in the morning seemingly just looking for something to jump on and criticize....sorry for you poor folks...hope your lives somehow get better...
Well, that's what happens when you post a comment or your view of something or someone on here. As for "Live and Let Live", that's exactly why we are free and able to express our views and opinions. I am a morning person, it's my brightest and happiest part of my day. I don't look for "something to jump on" since i usually have done that the night before,,,,,,,,,,,,, making my mornings even better, yes! even at 67, and i can assure you it wasn't David Letterman.
Thank you though for your well wishes for "us poor folks," and thanks to his moving on, my Life will surely "get better" and i sincerely hope yours does too.
We all have trials and tribulations in our lives as I most certainly do Tom, but overall, my life is so amazingly blessed I'm a pretty relaxed and content guy. As for tv shows or tv personalities or radio personalities that I don't like....I simply change the station.....it's easy and works well....never aggravated by those I don't care for....

You know, i tend to do the same, especially for boring, no talent shows. That's the easiest way I've found and it works well on here too. If i see a subject that i think will get me upset or irritate me, i just simply don't click on it. We all should do that and we would be much better off.

You're right Tom....not all things are so easily "turned off"...nice when there are things or people that are potentially annoying that we can just dismiss.....

After 33 years he is calling it quits, last show will be tonight. Goodbye Dave, I've really enjoyed your show!
Me too. Dave was my favorite of all the late nite hosts.

Letterman had as many Republican Presidents, Republicans as Democrats appear on his show.
I hope you realize that "writers" wrote most of his material, he just read the jokes from cue cards, etc. As far as his political leanings, I never knew what they were, and I didn't care either.
Don't blame David Letterman for the failings of President Obama, not Letterman's fault that Obama was voted into office.
I'm sure that you were a Nixon supporter!
yes, pretty much every president in my lifetime, regardless of party, did things I agreed with and things I didn't agree with...glad I'm not president...can't please all the people all the time....can't please some of the people ever....
I too am a Letterman fan. He will be missed. My only disappointment with the last show was not having a "Will it Float?" segment.
