A variation
To learn how to use my Olympus OM D1 (same ease and confidence as my Nikon D300S), THEN
Buy the 40 to 150 f2.8 lens (an amazing lens evebpn though it is not a prime)

You Fools!! You actually think you can list your equipment "needs" when the manufacturers keep turning out newer and better goodies every day! Ya just gotta grit your teeth and type in that credit card number, hoping that nothing better will come along for at least 6 months or so!:) :)

Just for fun. We all know what GAS is…that insidious craving for gear! It may take the rest of my life to acquire all the items on my GAS list; The top five items on my current dream list include (in rough order or precedence):

1. Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS Mark II
2. ThinkTank Streetwalker Hard Drive (Camera Back Pack)
3. Sigma 50mm ART
4. Canon 100mm Macro Lens
5. Canon 600EX-RT Speedlite

This is only the top five items on my otherwise very long list. What are your top five current GAS list items?
Just for fun. We all know what GAS is…that insidi... (show quote)

Lucky for me I have never heard of a GAS list, and my resistance to impulse buy it well developed.

Geez Odd, you're suffering from redundant GAS. That's the worst kind. Rumor has it, that form of gas can be financially fatal!!!

Basil, I've got a short list, but almost have enough $ saved to go shopping!

7D MkII or 5D MkIII....still deciding, but leaning toward the 7D MkII
70-200mm f/2.8L IS II

I also need a flash unit, but haven't decided which one yet.:)

Retirement is one of the most wonderful words that was created for man...Full retirement not partial...and good people like all of you I can talk to. A great dog to share my days and trails to walk. and being happily satisified with what I have. That is my gas list

A great retirement is the best revenge.

1. 7-14 f2.8 (comes out in June)
2. 300 f4 (comes out late 2015)
3. Em-1ii (only speculation, early 2016)
4. 40-150 f2.8

Why is the only item that is currently available at the bottom of the list? Are you trying to avoid getting it?

And you should add the TC which will work on both tele lenses.

I've got to right my list down! Sometimes they all look the same to me.
Just yesterday I had an attack while in a camera store and bought a used lens for $100. Got home to discover I already have that same lens!

Maybe this second, recent copy is superior! Check the serial# and have a old vs new shoot-out! :-)

While so engaged, you will not suffer from further gas pangs!

I have never put my GAS list on paper.
Just a comment on something you said above..."It may take the rest of my life to acquire all the items on my GAS list."
I'm afraid if you think you're going to get to the end of that list in "the rest of your life," you are sadly mistaken. Something new is always coming out and that list will change and grow. Just sayin'.

Both are identical AF Nikkors. :-( The store was very good about taking it back, but I bought another camera bag while there.

Well mine is a little different. RETIREMENT!!! So I can play with my gear more!! 2 years:(:(:(:(

My experience is that retirement is just another career. One works just as hard but only on things one enjoys. On the other hand we have an 85-year-old friend who works full time as a college professor and spends the weekends reviewing plays and musical events. Says, "Why should I retire? I'm doing what I love now." Different strokes for different folks.

1 a Pentax 645Z.
2 a 300mm f 2.8.
3 other things.
most things stay on the list until I buy them, or talk myself out of buying them.
