I just ordered a hood that is supposed to work on my lens. I will see if it works me. Perhaps call B&H or adorama as I did and see what they tell you.

thanks

I noticed on my Sigma 70-200mm lens I am also getting vignetting. I am using the butterfly hood that came with the lens. The vignetting is on both the vertical and horizontal. Any suggestions.

Please post a sample.
Sigma made two 70-200mm F2.8 lenses, one with OS and one without. While they are different lenses, taking different hood, both hoods are interchangable. The problem comes in when people put the old version hood on the new version lens, it will vignette.
You said the hood came with the lens. Did you buy it NEW from an authorized dealer? In that case it will definitely come with the right hood. If you bought it used or off Ebay or Amazon then its entirely possible you have the wrong hood on it.

I bought it new (US warrant) about six months ago. My best bet would be to contact the store/company.

Thanks.

This is the hood that you SHOULD have received.

Does anyone know of a lens hood that can mount on a Nikon 24 - 85 mm, 72 mm lens without causing vignetting when used at 24 mm? Thanks.

There are some very practical suggestions here; but, if you already have a hood, and don't want to put out for another, since it is at 24mm range problem only, remove the hood for that particular range; of course while doing this be more leary of placement of the sun to the front of the lens.

One way to solve the problem is to use larger filter or hood & a step up ring to attach it.
