Does anyone know of a lens hood that can mount on a Nikon 24 - 85 mm, 72 mm lens without causing vignetting when used at 24 mm? Thanks.

I'd call B&H, Adorama, or MTShooter and ask.

Another option is to get a standard 72mm screw-on wide angle hood. Perhaps not quite as practical as a hood specifically dedicated to the given lens, but it will work and won't cause vignetting problems. And they are fairly inexpensive - under $10 on eBay.

Could you post an image? I have this lens and have not noticed any vignetting when used at 24 mm.
I'm under the assumption that you have the hood installed correctly, with the large petals at the top and bottom?

Thanks Bob for your input. I gave the hood to a friend so I'm not able to post a photo. I tried it in all positions and still had the effect.

Which of the three 24-85mm lenses are you asking about?
If its the current model, then you will want a Nikon HB-63 hood for it.

MT Shooter is right. I'd get the hood that Nikon designed for it. They will have designed it to give the maximum amount of shading without causing vignetting.

Try ebay and amazon to get the part number.

I use the Vello 72mm screw-in version on my 21mm lens - the snap-on may be more convenient since it can be reversed and accepts a cap.

Again, MTIs correct. That is what I use and have had no problems!

I noticed on my Sigma 70-200mm lens I am also getting vignetting. I am using the butterfly hood that came with the lens. The vignetting is on both the vertical and horizontal. Any suggestions.

I just ordered a hood that is supposed to work on my lens. I will see if it works me. Perhaps call B&H or adorama as I did and see what they tell you.
