I have this lens and want to add about filters for it. Lee is a wonderful system but take a look at the Wonderpana 145. I now have 2 3 4 5 and 10 stop ND filters. A UV filter and a CPL plus a lens cap that fits. I am now exploring long term exposures with excellent results

rjmcall, You are ASSUMING that I wanted the" right post in focus along with everything else" . I'm sure you know what folks say about those who ASSUME... I am aware of hyperfocal distance, and would have used the technique if I had wanted to. This image was shot handheld at an aperture of 2.8 to make up for the low light conditions, and to test the lens for sharpness while fully open. I'll ask for opinions and critique if and when I want them...BTW, do you happen to shoot a Canon ? ]Hyperfocal distance shooting is a must with this lens. You could easily have gotten the eebottom right post in focus along with everything else....[/quote]

I pretty much keep this lens on my D810. It is great for landscapes and architectural photography. I also use my D800 and pretty much keep either my 70-200 or 24-70 mounted on it.

I had this lens and it lives up to its reputation. My problem with it is the fact that the front element protrudes a lot so you cannot use screw in filters unless you get a special adapter that sells for well over $700.00 and you can only use really large filters with this set up. I didn't feel like carrying around another piece of equipment just for the one lens so I sold the lens. The other problem with the lens is it is very heavy. Other then the filter problem and the weight its a great lens.

It is a wonderful lens. Paired with my 800e, it great for its intended use. Nikon has the lens for sale under refurbished. Good price for a great lens with a Nikon warranty.

Enjoy.

I got this Lens and Lee SW150 filter holder. I'm still saving for the Singh-Ray 10 or 15 stop filter and the Schneider Circular Polarizer filter. The filter outfit cost more than then lens itself. However, it's a great lens.

Thanks for your advice, However, my passion in photography, is nature , landscapes, unusual architecture , and the fact, that you can bend lines somewhat, like a fisheye lens.but not as critical, though.but thank you, for your valuable feed back, I appreciate it.......

One caveat. The lens is great, no question. However, in my business, mostly sports photography, the lens sits in my lens cabinet most of the time. I find that there is very little that I can't do with my 24-70mm and much cheaper and lighter wide angle prime lens. If you do landscapes primarily, I think it would be your go-to lens. Otherwise, I would not be quick to buy the 14-24mm just to have the trinity. Just my $.02

Without question this is a classic lens. I have it and its one of Nikon's super four. In the beginning I used it a lot for landscape, but recently I have switch more to using my VR 16mm-35mm f4 because of the ability to use filters. You cannot use a screw on filter on the 14mm-24mm.

I have it superb lens. Filters some may ask, what on this lens, you have to be joking. If the filter issue is the only reason you won't buy this lens, then clearly you are yet to make the grade as a photographer. Buy it, you will not regret it.

I had this lens, fantastic lens but the problem with filters was just too much for me so I sold the lens. Otherwise its really a great lens. I didn't feel like spending a couple of thousand dollars just so I could use filters with it. By the way I make my living as a photographer.

A very interesting comment.
I would like to see your photos.
As clearly in your opinion, you apparently "have made the grade as a photographer"
I couldn't find that you posted any photos yet.

I did find some other comments by you though.
Funny, they didn't sound like the comments from one who had "..... made the grade as a photographer".

This is my 1st post and question, so go easy on me please. I shoot a D7000 with several different lenses, 18-300, 24-105 & 70-300. All AF DX lenses. My question is on the D7000 when pressing the shutter half way down to focus, in the left hand side of the view finder 2 small triangles appear, either singly or to-gether. When they appear singly the manual says that the main focus point is either in front of behind the subject. When the subject is in focus a single dot should appear. My problem is that I can never seem to get the single dot to appear, it doesn't matter which lenses I use or which shooting mode I select other than auto. Therefore am I correct to assume that unless the single dot appears then the subject is not properly focused? If so, what am I doing incorrectly? Thanks in advance

I've just purchased Nikon D610 so still learning about the camera. One thing I am unable to find any info on in the manual is how to change the length of time the last photo taken displays on the LCD screen. The manual says it shows for 4 secs, however I find this time too short sometimes if I wish to have a really good look at it. Does anyone know how to change this setting to make it stay on longer? Thanks in advance.

I've been trying for 2 months now to upload a book prepared in Lightroom 5 to Blurb.

Everytime I try I receive an error message from Blurb saying an error developed, this is after approx. 30 mins of the upload. I contacted Blurb tech support, but frankly they are useless. All they could come up with was to ask me to export the book as a PDF then send it. If I do that I can get the book through by itself, but not with the covers included as either as part of the book or even separately. Again an error occurs.

Anyone had a similar problem or can suggest a solution as Blurb tech support seem unable to resolve the problem.
